My account has been RESET?(Solved, mostly)
So. Decided to download this game again on a new computer. Got some new DLC on sale, pretty stoked to hop in with a friend to blow up some cops with my favorite weapons. I get in and see that I have 0 money in both offshore and normal accounts, no skill points, etc.

I previously played PD2 for 180 HOURS. That's a pretty good amount of time spent just to have my account reset after just daring to move to a better comp(I also deleted the game on the old one, as it's my sibling's now). I had a great amount of items( for the playtime) and had all of my builds n' such. Now there's nothing.

Any reason for something like this to happen?

EDIT: I wiped steam from the old comp. as well, but through some System Restore trickery I managed to get back to the save. They should seriously fix the save system to allow the Steam Cloud to catch the saves.

I had an account before this one that had quite of a high infamy level, all that is lost and I had to start all over. I think it's mostly because of sync saves being corrupt or something, or they're completly disabled.

There's no cloud syncing for this game when it comes to saves?

I have no idea myself to be honest. Just giving away theories and thoughts of what could be, I noticed that this game does have sync but I shall check it later in the future to see if it even works. Other than that you gotta play all over again I guess, good news is that you're going to meet some new players too so it'll be fun no? I sure had some.

There is, unless you turn it off.

let me say again "STEAM CLOUD DOES NOT GET THE PLAYERSAVE DATA"
since it is located elseware.

The annoying reason for this is because the pd2 player data is stored in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\RANDOMNUMBER\218620
and NOT in the game files

You figure with the devs churning out half-baked DLC's and spending money on updates, they could've put some time into I dunno actually making their savegames function for the people who buy their game and DLC.

Welp, better get to grinding another 180 hours to get back to where I was. Thanks for respoding my dude, at least you were able to give me that much. :cell:

Oh and just wait till a new update comes in.
Even if you uninstalled PD2 from the old PC, if you still have access to that PC and didn't wipe the drive, the save files should still be there.

This guide shows where the files are stored. If you copy the 'remote' folder from the old PC and put it in save-file location on your new PC, you should have everything back again.

If your old PC is inaccessible or your save files are gone, you can make backups of your PD2 save file in a similar fashion using that guide. That will ensure your progress is safe in the future.
Hopefully you can get it all back, though!

Cheers
