This is a game. Everyone who wants to play this game should feel represented. The best way to do that is to add different characters. But since that's time consuming, we can look for another solution for now.

And how we will do that? How we will make people feel safe and represented? Pronouns and LGBT+ flags ofc. Give people option to use them. Show your love and respect to all people.

It's 2024, all games should have those options by default. That's matter for modern audience. And this option will not affect anyone who don't want to use them, it will be there for only people who wants to have them.

Why don't we keep the game within its own universe and lore? By trying to make games for everyone, you end up with a game that is for no one in particular. The Warhammer 40k universe is not based on ours. Hardly anything in their politics is similar to progressive politics of today. Some lore has stories of homosexual acts, but it is still within the 40k universe.

SIDE NOTE: You can make your character a menagerie of colors. Just go nuts and rainbow out a character. Calling it LGBT colors just is inviting a modern politic that has nothing to do with the universe the game is within and is just pandering. Having a rainbow flag is not going to make someone play the game... it isn't. It would be silly to watch a character that is a gene-clone, in a psuedo-religious military, whose average life expectancy is a few days walk around with a pride flag chanting "death to the heretics!" They might as well floss during loading screens and carry selfie sticks.

Why the ♥♥♥♥ do you need flags, skins, etc to feel "safe". There is nothing safe about the 41st millennium. You should not feel comfortable there and it's healthy for you to not feel safe or comfortable, if only for a little while, in a non-real setting.

Concord actively proves you wrong with your whole "modern audiences" thing. If this was the solution for "modern audiences" it would have been a roaring success rather than a flop that got shut down within a week.

This is Warhammer. What you want works perfectly fine in some settings. There were no problems putting it into a DND game like Baldur's gate 3. To think, though, that this wouldn't be incredibly immersion breaking in a game about the super soldier elites of a space fascist empire where the only reason humanity is still alive is that in a universe of horrors, mankind had to create their own ultimate authority and quash dissent is ridiculous. Space Marines don't have time to discuss their identity or worry about feelings, because their only states of existence are cryogenic sleep, or kicking ass.

No, this game doesn't need gay or trans space Marines and rainbow flags. I have a boyfriend. I am male. Both he and I would have our immersion completely broken by having LGBT+ pride paraphernalia in the game. You want a pride marine? By all means, customize each piece of your armor with a different color of the rainbow.

In lore and in most the games everyone is called by their rank regardless due to how militant the setting so it would be pointless to add it as you will never be address that way and will 100% be shot on the spot by a commissar if you try to correct someone on your pronouns for answering back too a officer and displaying a flag that isnt of your chapter/regiment/world is classed as treason in lore and you will executed often without a chance to explain yourself due to the commissar "not wanting you to spread treasonous ideals among the troops" - its a setting that open declares there is not personal freedom, zero tolerance of any kind. There is a very, very small check list of what is OK which is often pretty much "The Emperor is your God, everything you do is in service to him" hell two of the most well known "Imperial Slogans" - Its Better To Die for The Emperor Then Live For Yourself" and "A Open Mind Is Like a Fortress With Its Gates Open And Turrets Unmanned"
