But if you do that, you may not get your stats or achievs - will you?

I suggest holding a backup.

save file won't work because its does not match re5 gold save because of all the dlc and whatever else. you're better off just starting from scratch. beat the game on easy and then max out a weapon of your choice and then you can blast your way through all the harder difficulties.

As long as you're not playing alone, of course.

*cough* Professional difficulty with an AI partner *cough*

I did this trick with Batman AA, copied save file, used hex editor to delete few bytes of GFWL specific header, after which rest of game save data was fine for new version of game.

Please google for Batman Arkham Asylum Live to Steam save hex edit or something like this, this way it could possibly work for RE5, but i think it will be only save file anyway, no achivements, no stats taht stored in GFWL storage outsite of game save file. So it would be only half of migration.

thats better then having to restart over when u already have max ever thing.. Getting achevements and stuff would be consider the easy part then if one cared enough

In such case if save includes something like flags "achievement n1 - done" and if game has not retroactive checking for such flags, you may not be able to achieve this again, but im not sure if that a case for RE5, just saw many games with real-time achivements that does not store or check any flags after achivement was taken once.
