That ending. Did they even try?
Just completed my first playthrough on Hard difficulty with zero human kills.
As much as of a great game it already is, I can't understand why they messed up the ending!

Seriously, what's wrong with this year's game endings?! (Thief,Castlevania LoS2,Wolfenstein TNO,Watch Dogs,Shadow of Mordor and now this)

How do you think it should have ended?

Think of it as one of two possibilitys. 1. This game was supposed to be made with the intent of following the first film and the ending of the first film is very much like the one of this game. 2. It's obvious sequal bait.

You realize the ending was bassically like the first and second films right?

Except it isnt.
Alien and Aliens didnt have a massive cliffhanger ending, nor did they have action right up to the last minute.

Yes, Alien had the whole blow-the-alien-into-space which then switched to Ripley doing her final log.
And Aliens had a very similar ending.

But Alien Isolation doesnt have that, the 2nd last thing you see, is an Alien attacking Amanda, and then see Amanda suddenly floating in space with a light beam hitting her in the last second...
Tell me exactly how that shares any similarities to the two first Alien films.

This kind of cliffhanger ending, ripped straight out of modern horror movies, really surprised me, but not for the better.
It made all the 16 hours i spent in the game seem pointless, and had it been a movie i'd be throwing everything i had at the screen.

Nope, it was beyond terrible.
Cliffhangers are nothing but a moneygrabbing trick, and that people accept them, is beyond me.
Sure, it's nice that Amanda "get's some closure", but the ending of game seems like either the storywriters ran out of ideas, or that they had a brain meltdown.

Everything in the game AFTER you've manually docked the Torrens seems like it was written by a 12 year old AvP fanboy.

Couldn't agree more. A shame they messed the ending up so bad, really.

I'm just wondering which ship arrived on scene, a Weyland Yutani, Predator, Engineer, or some as of yet un-named other?
AvatarIII Nov 24, 2014 @ 6:07am
But after they dock the Torrens it's basically like the ending of the first movie, when Ripley blows up the the Nostromo and the Refinery, thinking she killed the Alien but discovers it was hiding on the lifeboat, and has to eject it into space, is very similar to how AI ended with Ripley2 destroying Sevastopol, and escaping onto the Torrens only to find an Alien there and ejecting it into space.

I wouldn't say it was sequel bait at all, anyone that has seen Aliens knows Amanda survives until old age, and it's not hard to just accept that Verlaine was perhaps not dead, and was able to save Amanda, or if Verlaine did die, it would be in the company's best interests to save Amanda ASAP, we know she is rescued, we just don't know how exactly, and that fact can be told in about 30 seconds.

Was the ending great? no, but I didn't dislike it either.

I like the ending... It let some place for imagination... And I hope, a sequel.

Excuse me, but cliffhangers are a quite common and much enjoyed part of creative writing, best employed by skilful writers... as well as a cynical money grabbing trick. ;)

Anyway, I respect your opinion but for me... well, I liked the ending. I felt happy that the story was mostly wrapped up in a planned way, with one thread left open to the possibility of more. I want to know what happens next, without feeling short-changed by a story arc cut short in its prime by either a bad cliffhanger, or the...

"Oops! We didn't really plan for an ending so... here's the best we can do at short notice! Toodles!"

...thing that's all too common in games/TV/movies now.

Almost any ending should have been horrendously disappointing after that roller-coaster ride, and the one they chose was competently done. Despite the lack of earth-shattering genius, it rounded the experience off nicely, for me.

Ah yes, im obvousily stupid for being fine with the cliffhanger everyone. Or the fact that the aliens went in space which btw suprised me in a good way. Yes I am so wrong.

Instead of calling out people with complaints that actually ARE stupid im the obvousily stupid one for having a differing opinion on an ending.

Makes total sense.

The end could of been better but it opened it up to a sequel which is totally cool with me.

Well you're not, although in fairness I think that was just a case of broken tags, and the user was asking Bru that, ie:

Which would make a bit more sense, given that both Alien and Aliens had action right up until the end, and both ended on massive cliffhangers.

If having a different opinion than you means retarded, then yes..

Dont you have some reddit posts to troll?
