What I felt towards the end was also boredom - at least that is what I told to myself, until I realized it was more like "terror fatigue" or something. By the time I got through medical (and spent so much time there hiding and shaking that the alien got tethered to me like it was a puppy on a leash) I think I got terror overdose. You say you are at Mission 12, so there are some heavy-duty "fun" still waiting for you..
Maybe put it aside for a while, that is what I did - after medical I stopped playing for two days until the feeling "oh damnit more hide and seek, you gotta be kidding me, gimmi a break!" went away.
I did feel the same the first day I bougth the game and found out the revolver does nothing to the Alien - put me off the game for years. But its not a colonial marines shoot and shoot game alas. Cheaply built space station with cheap equipment, cheap and dangerously badly programmed androids and cheap, low powered weapons, so that the drunken denizens won't shoot the station full of holes and find out the company also saved money on emergency seals. Your only option is to run and/or hide when that bug is around. It yanked me out of closets several times, so hiding is not really a long term solution.
