Mission 17 making my stomach sick
Ok the intensity has ramped up considerably for this mission. It is actually making my stomach hurt with worry, fear, and anxiety. I am so low on ammo and fuel, I have no pipe bombs left and only 1 molotov and then i get "restart generator" and omg how am i going to return to the genny and still make it back here. Ive used up everything I had trying to get here and now Ive got to go back!! Might as well spit at the alien for all the good my flashbangs and smoke bombs will do. Maybe I can throw a noisemaker at him.... like he isnt already pissed off as hell!

I just played for 2 hours trying to finish the game but I finally had to stop, cannot take any more tonight. I hope this game ends soon because I got a few new grey hairs from Mission 17.

All kidding (well sort of) aside, what an incredible game, congrats to the developers for doing a heck of a job.

There are 19 missions. Don't worry, they are not short :)
Happy being hunted!

Mission 17 is my favorite in the game specifically because of that brilliant part at the end of it.

I still think 14 was more stressful, even if rather short.

That's great! My wife and I saw the original film when it first came out in 1979, and both our stomachs hurt from fear and tension afterwards, too.

Well Im glad Im not the only one thinking this mission is insane. I am playing on hard too and the alien is just in full rage mode hissing and screaming.

I think the last time I got this worked up over a game was maybe Thief Deadly Shadows Shalebridge Cradle mission. But where that had a more eerie evil vibe, AI has more rage and terror.

There is no doubt that this alien hates me and wants me dead. I think the developers got that spot on and really got the personality just right. It reminds me of Alien Resurection when the scientists had the Xenomorphs in a cage and were hitting it with jets of liquid nitrogen. That scene really showed how much these creatures are full of hate.

I am going to try and finish it up tonight, wish me luck.

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hated that mission. Hated it on hard, hate it now on nightmare, will hate it forever and ever. It looks cool, but just doesn't feel like it belongs in this game

Oh it belongs in the game. It's just a ♥♥♥♥ move to make a map like that.

Oh it belongs in the game. It's just a ♥♥♥♥ move to make a map like that.

I mean, the area you are in is way too small, Alien almost never leaves to go in vents, and the first time I went to generator when Alien suddenly burst in through rubble, while it was an awesome and unexpected moment, I died there yet again.

I almost never died before getting there and almost never died afterwards. But at that moment I died more than in my both playthroughs combined.

Just to clarify, mission 17 is that mission when you try to get to comms and you get through that area where a lot of survivors holed up, but died as result, right? The one where ♥♥♥♥ is exploding, you get to generator, try to leave the area, then lights go out and you have to get back to generator AGAIN.

It was just exercise in frustration.

Yea I think I died more times on mission 17 than the whole rest of the game too. The rooms are layed out with very little to hide behind, must have played ring-around-the-pool-table 10 times or more hehe.

I finally made it through and just finished up the game tonight, the few minor annoyances aside it was a really great game. One of the best Ive played in a long time.

I just finished 17 on hard...it was very much intense wow...but...my flame thrower kinda made the whole thing not very difficult at all. Crawl in hole, go to objective and do it, flash some flames at alien if he gets too close, repeat. Oh and the parts with synths are giant rape trains that remind me of my black ops zombies days...Still so fun though!

Mission 17 fans should have a look on this against TWO Aliens
