Question about the Space Time backpack

I have only been playing for about a month so this is the first experience I've had with starting a new season.

I had 20,000 material point which I naively assumed that it meant I could transfer up to 20k items from Eternal Land. Not only was I wrong but I also transferred items that I can't use, like a level 30 rifle and Aluminum ingots that I can't make anything with yet. Noobs - LOL.

After I started on the new server, I saw the option to switch to the space time backpack where I can see all of my stuff. But I can't withdraw from it, so my question is basically what's the purpose of accessing the backpack in world?

Well, basically as you already said: it allows you to transfer some items to the new scenario so that you can use them again. Next this screen also gives you access to the Eternaland shop, so that you can sell items for Astral sand, but without having to visit Eternaland for that. Astral sand is the 'currency' used for building in Eternaland.
