That's a level of entitlement that I can and will never understand.
Ask for a mode all you want. Wanting the actual LAW changed, that is real special.
Grab a gun. Kill them.
This is your answer as to why this will not be a thing.
You cite the general population but I bet the number of people interested in a horror inspired survival game is even smaller. This is like a PTSD veteran demanding a Battlefield game to have a mode that does not depict war in a realistic way (Within the boundaries of a video game).
There's a literal boss spider thing. If it affects you this harshly you should not play the game.
I'm sorry.
I have a problem with using voice chat and so I can only type and even though that's a much smaller thing I'm not here demanding games that don't have text chat to have it. I'm simply not playing those games.
Them making their chat window better would benefit everyone though. Because damn....

Look, I'll say here what I said there: If you ask for spiders to be replaced by something else the developers will probably say they're willing to do it when time permits. But they have a LONG list of things they're claiming they'll do when time permits, and they are a small team, and the odds of them achieving even half of what they're promising is slim.
So does the situation suck for you? Yes. Is it likely to improve? Probably not, and not because they're unwilling, but because they're likely unable to squeeze it into their schedule or budget. They've mentioned repeatedly now over the last few days that they're out of money. It's probably why the game was pushed out now rather than waiting for a clearer field (there have been a lot of game launches recently) and a more polished product.
That's the reality you need to consider, and then figure out whether you can get past this and deal with the in-game spiders or not.
And seeing as how many people are just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dull when it comes to phobias is beyond me, it's like saying rape and bad sex is the same thing, one person doesn't enjoy either so in your words they should "deal with it, lol"
I would be thankful with a unity white box coverup like a brilliant community member made for Last Epoch, I don't care about "immersion" when it helps people play a game that's supposed to be fun.
