How does this game make money?
I love sate of decay 2, and so this was recommended to me? I have no idea how similar they are. However, before I consider trying the game I need to know how they make money. Am I supporting something healthy for gaming, or unhealthy? Thanks!

Its the typical mobile market monetization. You can either purchase overpriced rolls on a lootcrate (between $200-500 depending on whats in said crate and luck for an item you want as the rates are atrocious), you can purchase cosmetic packs for character/building cosmetics ($30+ for the bigger packs), purchase a battlepass, or you can purchase a monthly subscription for.. er.. benefits.

Pick your poison if your wanting to support the game.

While it has similar aspects to State of Decay, the gameplay is more action focused with horror themed elements along with a gear progression and tacked on survival mechanics.

They sell cosmetics only.

You will see a lot of complaints on loot crates or whatever but end of the day, they only sell cosmetics. So, they are completely optional.

So, if you don't care anything about cosmetics, you can play everything for free.

They are not selling conveniences either so you won't need to pay to skip or fast forward anything.

They are not selling map access either so you have access to all the scenarios (maps, gameplay, weapons/armors) as they release.

Basically it's all about cosmetics and a tiny little advantage during play. I don't know all the options from mind, but when you start playing you'll get to see an ad. about new contents in the game.

The ad is mostly the same during quite some time btw, and it's just a still picture.

Other than that the game doesn't force anything on you. Not a single peep about "buying" stuff.

So what can you buy? First... a metapass. For approx. E 10,- it gets you 30 days of some fun extra cosmetics (like a custom namecard and some doodles for your weapons), and an expanded "campsite". A campsite is a temporary place that can act as a spawnpoint and a limited crafting station. With a metapass the camp gets bigger and also allows you to deconstruct items, thus saving up inventory space.

Next there's the battlepass. When you 'do' things you earn rewards and also build up this battlepass. Everyone gets the standard rewards, but if you want more you can buy yourself the upgraded 'deluxe' battlepass which allows you to unlock more rewards. I got the previous battlepass deluxe and now my avatar can equip cool white long hair with a rose in it, has slick leather gloves and can wear a white dress and high heels, all with roses on and around 'm.

Know what? This here:

However, this has now expired, and a new battlepass is active with a pirate theme. There is an in-game video but not one yet on YouTube.

Next you can also purchase in-game currency for real money and then use that to buy more cosmetic stuff for in the game.

Once again: nothing gets pushed onto you. Other than the daily ad which you get to see at the start of your game nothing else gets advertised.

All in all I think it's a very fair way of trying to monetize on the game. Of course I am a bit biased I suppose; I'm enjoying my metapass and am kinda proud of having the full amount of night rose goodies.
