People also say 6 weeks which isn't entirely true, there are 6 phases and it seems the last lasts 3 weeks. So it's 2 months.
Exactly.
For real. Players get burned out then complain they have nothing left to grind or do.
I don't like the idea of wipes, but everytime I login I constantly see hundreds of basic bases with a foundation and maybe a few other things. which I am sure don't do the server any good having to load them.
lol yea, you **only** lose 90% of your stuff. The idea of losing everything like this in any other MMO would be asinine. "You get to keep the recipes you learned and that's it, no big deal right?" Also the servers have limited population or so your second argument is inaccurate.
The exact opposite argument can apply. If you're gonna lose EVERYTHING IN THE GAME why bother gathering it in the first place? Sure, if you like running on the hamster wheel it's no big issue, but if you actually want to make progress and be rewarded for your time, you need to be actually moving. The only caveat to this is **if** they change the hamster wheel to roll differently. If it's the same old wheel, just with a different paint job, though then there's literally no reason to play season 2. If I still have to go around, trigger anchors and go to a monolith, then i've experienced the game, and it was very fun, but the replayability is 0%.
I'm not complaining about the wipes, I think there is potential for it to be good, if they do some of the things they've hinted at like a new map and/or significant mechanic changes every season, but I can guarantee if they just introduce a "new story" with similar or same general mechanics, I'll have enjoyed my time and move on.
Look at the increase in player count after a wipe on any game that has regular wipes. People like the fresh grind. Wipes has been proven to keep players engaged in the game and returning to the game each wipe.
this would've been okay if it was rust or ark but we have quest to do all over again and its not fun.
people who aren't playing anymore gets there houses wiped so land is not an issue(tested it).
so what if people stop playing because they have everything,
THEN MAKE NEW CONTENT FOR THE GAME
imagine playing warframe then all that progress is gone after 6 weeks or making a new character to a new server because of a friend, IT SUCKS PLAYING BACK FROM THE START
seriously this game is awesome with how your character moves or attacks even with the deviant concept is fun getting them and more like the vehicles in the game except the house building kinda need some work.
I have a job and can't play all day sometimes I can't even play at all so yah kinda bad news to me its getting all wiped.
IF YOU LOVE CHAEWON GIVE THIS POST A LIKE
I have work and responsibilities
this game is fun but with the wipe I can't enjoy it. and don't you there insult minecraft and roblox with the age thing, I've been playing those games since childhood.
All that matters is that we have fun
and its a shame this game wipes every 6 weeks and getting the fun out of it. its not fun doing it all over again, its just another work to do
In 1999, I played a game called Ultima Online, a MMORPG.
Players built houses in the physical game world and not in instanced areas. If the players didn't pay the subscription fee for a 90 day period, the house would decay and fall, dropping all the items stored there on the ground. The items would auto pack into barrels. After everything was packed, players could attack the barrels and take the items.
When the land was clear, players could claim the land to build a new house.
UO was put on the market to buy and play in 1995 and It's still available. At it's peak I think there were around 300k players. If Richard Garriott, the Godfather and OG of MMO's, could do that 30 years ago and not have to wipe servers, explain to me why something similar can't be done now if empty houses are the argument for wipes?
I mean seriously, what's the reason?
