My controller isn't working
I have a Gigaware controller and it seem that I cant use it. Is there a way for me to get it to work?

If you go into steam apps, then into common and go into Sonic Adventure 2 you will find Sonic2ap, and Launcher. Launch from the Launcher then go into player. find player 1 and make sure you have it set to game pad and qwerty. This fixed my problem but this game has been super buggy as of late. Hope it helps!

After setting up the emulator and editing the keyboard.cfg file, you shouldn't open the game through the Launcher.exe file, you should open it directly from the sonic2app.exe file.

Hmm, maybe you didn't configure x360ce properly, or x360ce doesn't support your controller? :\

But i think it does because it shows the buttons are working. It just wont show when i get into the game. I may have to buy a knew controller. Do you know any good alts that can work.

And did you edit the keyboard.cfg file so it has Player InputWay="1"?
Also, after changing that line, note that opening the launcher and saving the settings resets that line to Player InputWay="0" again.
If in the end you can't get it to work, the XBox 360 controller works fine, the Logitech F series work fine too (Logitech F310, F510 and F710). Any controller that mentions support for XInput should work fine.

The XBOX 360 Controller is the only officially supported controller for this title, the same with all the other releases they had. The exception to the rule is controllers that have the XBOX 360 mode such as the Logitech Controllers mentioned. I know it sucks, but I actually spent $30 and bought one of those PowerA Skylanders XBOX 360 controllers and plugged it into my laptop and it works perfectly. (The backlit lights on the buttons are awesome too!)

Try JoytoKey. A little tedious but once it is setup then it works for any game.

Maybe you have one of those replica controllers from China that looks very much like the real thing.

I have an original black, wired controller and it works flawlessly with the game.

In Tomb Raider 2013, my replica controller (which I though was original) did not work with the right control stick, when I tried to look to the left side.

If you however are 100% certain that it is an original controller, then that is truly strange.

Just for kicks, try going into the game's folder, go to the Config folder, then open Keyboard.cfg.

Under <Players>, you'll see <Player InputWay="0">, change that 0 to a 1
Then start the game with the sonic2app.exe, and see if your controller works.
