you'll get there. all it takes is an hour or 2 of dedication and attention. Losing in this game is not a bad thing, it simply means you gotta look for things where ya still gotta improve on.
Except I'm not really losing these races typically. I generally beat them on expert after an attempt or two. I occasionally get stuck, but for the most part, I beat them. It's simply... not fun in the process. Watching bots sit there and horde their items waiting to screw you over is not a fun way to race, it's a frustrating one. Sure, you can improve, but when the 3 bots in front of you horded all their snowballs to launch at you, then while you're still recovering, the 4 bots behind you all blast you as well, it just makes me want to launch my controller through the wall.
This thread is just made out of curiosity if other people felt the same way.
Edit*...reading your last response....YES it was very frustrating at times. VERY!
But i get ganged up in online games just as much. Other than that I still stand by that its not hard because of unfairness, but its cuz you still have a lot to improve. We all been there. One person likes it the other doesnt. For me it was very refreshing to play something that actually challenged me to become good from the get go. I actually like this type of game in general and I consider it one of this game's strenghts personally
The CPU will gang up on the player when the player would naturally be the priority target for more than one bot, either because their position is threatened or they're trying to overtake. It's realistic to a point, assuming that the other players are using common sense and not just spamming items whenever they get them.
I had a lot more difficulty in Traffic Attacks... The casino Boost Challenge is quite tough too.
Oh, and don't hesitate to change your /charactermods sometimes. I found it easier for some races to take Tails with more handling, like the Burning Rangers stage.
Really, the hardest part of S-Class World Tour isn't the races but the traffic attacks, that one at Ocean View still gives me nightmares.
"I think a lot of people are misinterpreting what I'm drawing issue with. It's not that I find it too hard, it's that the difficulty feels very hollow and "anti-fun" to deal with."
Yeah well. Got the game on a sale, learned my lesson.
I'm "stuck" at the unlock that requires 95 chars to open a new section of the world tour. I have all "Easy" stars up until then, with the exception of a single battle race (which is even more luck than anything else -- I even have the 'no lives lost' achievement from another battle race). I have a good deal of the "Medium" stars as well, and very few "Hard" stars for a total of 88 or 89 (don't remember).
Well, they have the money. Doesn't matter whether people can actually play the game...
I managed to get to 155. Now I've "quit" for a moment. Too much effort to eke too little more out of the game. Moved on.
I think you should just aim for 2 stars on all levels, and 3 on the regular race levels. Isn't too bad. 140 should be achievable.
I have a mixture of 1, 2, 3 and 4 stars. Can definitely make my 1s and 2s go to 3s at least, but like I said, no point in doing it already. Got my 15-odd hours of fun already!
But overall the world tour was a good challenge. I found it to be much less frustrating than mario kart, since AIs are evenly skilled. You notice that even more in GP mode.
