Game crash on water sections
The game sometimes crashes at water sections of a stage. I read somewhere that this only happens to NVIDIA drivers (which I have). Is there a fix to this issue? Please let me know!

My driver:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

happens to only the Turing cards (GTX 16 and RTX 20 series). no confirmation if it also happens on Ampere aka RTX 30 series.

yeah search for the forum thread with RTX crash fix in its title.

i have a GTX 1050 card and i have the latest Nvidia drivers but i dont crash because i'm on an older architecture more compatible with DX9c.

Same problem here with 2070 super. If I hit my windows button then click back on the app on taskbar it just goes back to being able to play and so far it hasn't caused me to lose my place it just goes back to when it first froze and lets you keep playing from there. :steamhappy:

I had the same issue.
I solved it by running the game as administrator.

Can confirm the game crashes on water sections with RTX 3000 Series cards.

Known issues with RTX cards. The only way to fix it is using DXVK's dll and put it in the game folder in order to render the game using Vulkan.

The following is a WORKAROUND. It doesn't fix the issue entirely, but when it freezes it will only freeze for a moment and then the game will continue as normal.
(Which is a LOT better than a game-breaking permanent freeze).

- Open Settings
- Select System > Display tab.
- Locate Multiple displays
- Click on Graphics Settings.
- Select the Change Default Graphics Settings option.
- Toggle ON the button next to the "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling".
- Reboot your PC to apply the changes.

It's debatable whether or not having this option permanently enabled is good or bad for games (do your own research). But if you don't want it always on you can simply just disable it after you finish playing SaASRT.

For the record though, I personally do have it permanently enabled and have not noticed any negative effects in any games I play.

I have found the 1.8.1 version of DXVK dll, there are x32 and x64 version of the dll folders, do you know which I need to use and is it in the main game folder or data folder? Cheers!

I want to confirm for folks that this workaround works for three of my friends with RTX cards.

They no longer crash, instead they get a white screen for about 0.5 to 1 second and then the game is back to normal like he says.

If you have an RTX card and are experiencing this crash, please try Saint.Million's fix, it's a lifesaver.

Yes! the gpu scheduling option stopped the freezing crash in my 3070 too. A brief white flash for now it is a tiny tradeoff until there is an official solution at Nvidia. :Emo_1_Happy:

This guy's post seems to have worked for me. Thanks mate.

Worked for me also. 1660Ti with latest Nvidia drivers. After trying countless fixes, enabling "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" has resolved the crashing to desktop issues that I was experiencing.

Lifesaver.
I was really worried about this game when I bought my RTX3060, precisely because my friend kept crashing with his RTX2080.

The little white screen is a bit annoying, but it's a far cry from a full blown crash to desktop.
