Anti Cheat? VAC? Cheaters?
Hey Im thinking about buying the game but I have fear about the cheaters. Is a anticheat active? If so does it ban properly? For example programs like memory editors like cheat engine?

Online cheaters are few and far between in my experience, and I'm at nearly 1000 multiplayer races.

But would you let the odd cheater ruin your chance to play SASRT, due to your over the top cheat phobia?

If cheats worry you that much, I would just stay away from online games in any form.

But if you did, you would miss out on playing many great games, including the best cart racer on PC (SASRT).

Yes, this game has VAC anti-cheat protection.

But to be honest...most of the players you'll encounter don't need any cheats. The game is built with hardcore racers in mind.
I can tell you now if you're a rookie (like me), then in multiplayer you'll end up in last place a LOT (assuming you can even finish. I've been rated as DNF more times than I care to count).

I say that, because to most newcomers, it looks like the others are cheating. But in truth, they aren't - they just know the game's secrets in-and-out, and have TONS of practice.

(I'd advise reading the guides here: they'll teach you all the secret tricks the game doesn't bother to tell you about, but the veteran players all know by heart)

This game won't hold you by the hand.
But if you can master it, you can likely master any racing game.

What? Why would you make someone who does not want to play with cheats feel like they're in the wrong. I wouldn't buy a game known for cheaters either.

Do you lock your front door at night? Maybe you have an 'over the top burglary phobia' :nonplussed_creep:
You can't stop them you can only get better become better enough to beat the cheaters. when you are powerful enough do this: make sure you and your friends pick a track where the cheater has the least advantage team up on the cheater and if all else fails troll the cheater character pick and in game so they won't wish to come back. make the cheater have a equalized unpleasurement.

Cheaters?

This game does have cheaters, but they mostly post their hacked times in Time Attack, which, depending on the track, will eventually be beaten. Rarely will you ever see them online.[/example]

Notice that I never called the original poster or anyone else any names or start any type of trouble in any way, shape, or form.
I'm not sure what others are talking about. I stopped playing this game beacuse there was a hacker in almost every game. And they are the blatent hyperspeed invincible hackers, not really any question about it. It was so bad the devs even released an appology. Maybe it has been fixed since I last played, but if not, it is still full of hacks.
Its fun with friends, but the hackers are copius.
I'd still get it and just play with people you know on a private server, unless you don't know anyone who has it. Then I'd say pass.
when did you last play?

there aren't many hackers and they only crop up very rarely, though they do exist. the skill ceiling is incredibly high however, so sometimes a player might suspect a high teir player could be hacking when in reality they aren't.

I've played around 30 games or so, so far, and I have yet to see any cheaters either...
For me since I am not the greatest of cart racers I can beat the computer at easy, on medium I can have a range of first place to last place, and I haven't even tried hard. There's also an expert level. There's also a two player split screen so you can play with a friend on the same computer and I think you can have private internet challenges just for you and your friends with the game.

Unless you are really good the computer AI is more than good enough to challenge you and going online to play multiplayer involves you being left behind at the start and never catching up as funewchie says.

Aside from that, i think the only way you can physically "cheat" is to use the pre-game Slot Machine to get a powerup like Blowfish or Firework (or if you're really lucky, the coveted All-Star) before a Boost Race (which doesn't have powerups).

you can't get an allstar in the slot machine.

the best ones are either hotrod (for either destorying everyone right at the start or by going sanic speeds by extending your boost, esp on water. more useful in boost races) boost 1X each lap, or extended boost stunt.

hacks that I've witnessed range from speed hacks to infinte weapons.

One thing that would be cool is a type of race where everyone starts the race with All-Star by default, with 4 possible settings (It'll be up to Sumo to pick which one):

1) The player starts the game with All-Star activating for everyone as soon as the race oficially starts. Lasting through the entirety of the game.

2) Same as 1, But All-Star is given as an item instead of being auto-triggered, letting the player choose when to fire it off (although AIs might use at the start anyway).

3) The Player is given a standard, single-use All Star, which is replentished after each lap.

4) The player is given one All Star, and only one. Once that's over, you'll have to race as if it were a normal boost race.

If 1 or 2 are considered, the song being played will be that of the person in 1st, regardless of where everyone else is. "Wouldn't this cause some annoyance as the game swaps back and forth between two character's themes as they try to get ahead of each-other?" you ask? Well, given the power involved with unleashing an All-Star move. There should be a 1-3 second delay as the new victor pulls away from his competetor, before getting hit themselves and loosing that lead.

1.) bad idea.
2.) wrong thread for it.
i kinda agree i was play not to long age and there was a person that drived 2X faster then me and he wasn't using NOS like i was he was probly using a speed hack
