Is Starbound Local Co-op?
Hey! Super interested in getting this game to play with my family and friends, so I need to know if it's local co-op offline. I have Terraria on the Xbox, and it's co-op offline there, so I was hoping it would be similar for starbound on PC.
Thank you guys!!

No, its not like you can play it on one PC on splitscreen. Only LAN or online servers.
It may be realsed on XBOX later this year, so maybe wait for that.
Okay thanks! Will do. Yeah I wasn't sure, I play co-op on rocket league all the time so I was hoping this would be the same :(
Local Co-op here means you happen to be in the same room/vicinity. I don't think you can play multiplayer without being connected to the internet, at least through Steam. They might have offline local co-op as a feature of the Xbox port being worked on. Unless this is only a minor factor in your decision to buy the game or not, I would recommend waiting to buy it.

EDIT: I posted this and then the previous comments appeared.:steamfacepalm:

If they get it working for the XBox it would be awesome if they port that feature (with gamepad support obviously) to the PC

You are thinking of Lan.
Local Co-Op is syonymous with split screen \ Single screen.
She used the terminology correctly.

Co-op is different.
Co-op just means you and your team mates are on the same team fighting a common enemy in almost all cases it is Ai.
Since PvP team games are not considered Co-Op.

Long story short it is important to use correct terminology.

I understood that Local Co-Op was split screen. I was describing the closest thing we had available. (Italics added to emphasize a word that didn't carry the intended weight.)

This is a post from last year, lol. I ended up buying Starbound recently and I'm loving it! I knew what you meant, so don't sweat it, haha.
