Can't place sprinklers? Any suggestions?

So today I finally got up to being able to make a sprinkler for my farm after getting some durasteel.
But, I can't place the sprinkler anywhere on a ceiling it seems.
I kept 8 spaces not including the sprinkler space above my crops, and have a ceiling
I tried with and without walls behind it, outside a building, different materials to hang it on.
I tried searching google and read the wiki but none of it helped

anyone got any ideas on how to use the (new?) sprinkler?

I hope someone will add this info to the wiki as the sprite does indeed look like it's supposed to go on the ceiling if it was a normal shower head opposed to this water droplet lobbing machine it is now

Sprinklers have a range of 12 single blocks to either side. And obstructions in the air above the sprinker can block drops of water. Making some patches of tilled dirt in your farm never get enough water and thus go dry.

edit : in the hyotl ship (max size) i was able to have the entire bottom / forward section 1 long farm area with 3 spriklers. And i put an Aquatic farm (12 tilled blocks) in the large area aft.

From my own experience, sprinklers water 15 blocks, not 12, on either side.

Lol, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought they went on the ceiling. I put it into a chest for a few days because I gave up on trying to place it until I looked it up. Haha.

Theres been a long time mod that adds ceiling sprinklers.

Or you just place it on a platform and it reaches below itself.

Sprinklers on a 0,0 scale can wet 15 spaces radius, 16 including sprinkle tile itself and need 8 tiles above its level for water to sprinkle everywhere without obstacles. I tested it thoroughly.
