im already using proximity sensors for most doors.
the problem is that the same proximity can be triggered by livestock.
so i want a door that regardless of NPC's will keep livestock locked.
maybe i should just use a wall switch to open and close that door?
will that prevent NPC's from opening it?
Well not universally, because that quest worked fine for me
NPCs flick switches all the time, its really annoying. You could try some shenanigans with logic gates, make a combination lock or a timed door or something. I have also noticed NPCs have a hard time with the two-block high fence gates, for some reason they can't figure out how to open them so they just walk into them constantly.
You are partially correct, they will flip many types of switches, but the position is important.

much appreciated.
btw, why does it not say it in the item description?
from its description you have no clue on its behavior.
