Vanilla way to acquire petals?

Hey, I realize there's probably a mod just for this, but I'm trying to keep my game mostly unmodded in order to keep multiplayer availability for friends. Is there a way to repeatedly harvest flower petals (red petal, blue petal, yellow petals) that I can plant on my base? I know the fluffalo are good ways to get harvestable plant fibre, but I don't know if flower petals can be repeatedly harvested the same way. Is there an item or plant out there that can do that, or am I better off hitting up lush, forest, and jungle planets to find flowers? (Or installing a mod just for this?)

As far as I'm aware, there's no way to plant the flowers that give petals. You're just going to have to strip them from the planets you leave dead in your wake.

There is a way to spawn in seeds to manually plant them via admin mode but... if you're going to go that far you might as well just spawn in the petals themselves. That said, there ARE mods that are still pretty much vanilla compatible. EG: Plantable flowers puts down a vanilla asset so I don't think that would conflict.

I thought I had a giant flower tree that dropped petals. Or maybe it was just plant fiber instead of wood, in vanilla.

Giant flower trees drop both fiber and petals - but those are giant flower petals, different material. Those are used to craft furniture only.
