Wood grain rolling with giant armor?
I invaded some guy ninja rolling around with this load out:

Mask of mother
Giant body
giant leggings
giant gauntlets
Claymore
estoc
crest shield.

Im just curious if it is legit, and if so, what is the endurace needed to do such a thing.
A sidenote is that his weapons weren't even elemental and hurt as much as a normal quality set up.

SL? And I'd imagine Havel's and the DWGR. Sure it wasn't Mask of the Father?
Kee Jan 2, 2014 @ 9:48pm
It was mother. I was invading around SL120 at Oolacile

Eh. Not if he's 30/30 STR and DEX. Not likely to be legit.
Kee Jan 2, 2014 @ 9:53pm
Ah. The only thing which seemed weak about him was that he had under 1500 health. Some random japanese guy with half a star rep.

If you're invading, it might be a high SL camper. Only way to tell if hacker is to know his stamina as it's impossible having FaP with that setup and still fast rolling
Kee Jan 2, 2014 @ 9:55pm
Well, fast rolling is one thing, wood grain rolling means his carryload was under 25% which seemed ridiculous with the weapons and armor he was using. He was kinda meh once you put your back against a wall though and didn't really know how to deal with a shotel.

First elemental weapons are almost never better in their general damage output, because they have split dmg, nearly everybody knows that.
You can use mugenmonkey for your builds or checking if a build can be done.

See? This build can be done quite easily, though the basic concept behind it is just...ridiculous.

[Fun mode]With this armor you know he:

- got no taste at all like all these Havel/silly mask or Giant/silly mask wearing gimps out there.
- has no style because he chose to wear the most ridiculous setup and even dares to present himself to other people like that, why not wear a traffic cone to top it off.
- has to hide behind strong armor so he can't be confident.
- has lost his grip on reality, flipping around in heavy armor, tsk, tsk.
For flipping Havel's sake ;)[fun mode off]

Jesus... 91 endurance. I actually want to try this sometime. Sounds hilarious, except maybe a few more points into vit and to upgrade str and dex to 16 caps.

Thanks, that explains the relatively low health, just not really the damage output

Guess my thief mask wearing elite knight was just not amused haha.

With HP that low, the DWGR is the only saving grace. It is a different game now and if you want a heavy armor character that is effective, build them around being able to mid roll and implement counters for various techniques.

My favorite is my Shadowknight (tank mage) that mid rolls, wears heavy armor, and has moderately high spell damage that incorporates using MLGS, MBH as main weapons, an enchanted longsword and Zweihander (Zweihander is a hard counter for buffers that want to spam, along with parrying) Black flame casts, Pursurers as a defensive tool, HCSM, Poison cloud as a mixup tool, and 8 casts of CSS to use during said mixups or to punish people that think it is best to back off and pull a bow on my slower character.

I also have a fat rolling Dragon headed character using full havels sans the helm that uses a wide variety of STR weapons I swap out to counter different builds with (Mainly the golem axe, dragon weapons, and a Demons spear incase I need it), and Gough greatbow that actually works with this build because it is fat rolling anyway, really fun.

But back to the point, that build is sacrificing too much survivability if it is appropriately leveled, even with the DWGR.

Hiding behind heavy armor? Depends on the build, why make a sweeping generalization like that? I prefer knight/warrior characters even if I have lightly armored ones as well, even those with no poise. Build dependent, but in his case it seems like he is trying to live in the glory days where a flipping iron clad warrior was common (and aesthetically upsetting to me).

I personally can't stand the father and mother mask, although son's mask's stamina regen is dang effective. Yeah, I heard about the flipping havel mom's and dads. The meta back then must have been pretty obnoxious.

the beginning of the giant dad video sums up the past meta

Well it is possible but if I calculated right he would need minimum 91 Endurance, so unlikely but possible.
