Knight Artorias tips

First let me say I have owned knight artorias several times but with very different builds than I am currently using. Two of my strength chars and a Int char totally destroyed Artorias but my Dex/Pyro build, the one that could actually use the damn tracers, is suffering.
I usually use a combination of bleed damage and pyromancy for bosses but Artorias is too fast for bleed and pyromancy does nothing to him. I can dodge everything he throws at me but the problem is doing any kind of considerable damage. Great Chaos Fireball does 282 with a direct hit/secondary aoe. Quelaags furysword does 50 light and 80 for heavy attack. My Bandit Knife +14 does around 34 i think and 52 with gold pine. I can dodge his attacks but no way can I be perfect enough to do this at 50 damage a hit. Any suggestions?

power within that ♥♥♥♥♥, interrupt the power up and you will be able to wreck him pretty easy

You could try tanking him and building up damage, the same way you fight the 4 kings (heavy armor maybe ironflesh and then hack and heal). Other tactics are dodging his attacks and don't let him buff himself, usually three hits with a katana, furysword should prevent this.

I do have havels and though I dont have ironflesh and think the swamp dude may have died to skeletons. Either way he is not at firelink anymore. Does Quelana sell it?

Get DEX up to 40 and use falchion on him. In DLC, you want high damage of 1 kind at least. You want to be doing at least 360 physical. Damage in this game is logarithmic and severely punishes if you do less than their armor. Another option is to raise STR to 14 or 2H to use more powerful DEX weapons like uchis

like to add that you have no poise and you're medium rolling. not a good idea.

If you have the strength requirements I used the halberd +15 with my dex build to beat Artorias. Combined with power within and the red tear stone ring I did 250+ damage with the two handed thrust attack. I tried to beat him first with the various katanas and qualaag sword but it didnt do a lot off damage.

I too had some trouble beating Artorias with my dex build. I had less trouble with my wizard and strength build.

Nah havels is enough poise.

Got my DEX up to 40 and changed my armor to Havels chest, helm, and gauntlets with I think havels ring and steel protection. Working on getting the falchion to +14 but need to take a break now.

Manage Stamina. Tanking Artorias with the damage he does is insane. use green blossoms and cloranthy ring, and maybe mask of the child if you have it. If your stamina is high enough you can block most of Artorias attacks without incident, and your stamina recovery means you'll be able to block tank multiple hits if you release between. Great Scythe or Iaito/uchigatana are great for dex builds in this fight with power within, especially if you buff with DMB, Gold pine or Charcoal pine (not as effective). Shame Artorias is immune to bleed damage.

If you have good timing, you can raise your str so you can at least two hand the murakumo. If your timing is good, you can get some good hits.

I beat him with a dex/pyro build by equipping Havels Armor, Havels Ring, 2 handing my +15 Uchi and using Power Within...I was able to take his health down fast and basically just tanked him, not exactly the most skillful way but it worked for me.

I prefer the balder side sword +15 for this fight. Just two hand it when he tries to power up and you can interrupt him.

These kind of deaths really grind my gears. Happened to me 4 times o n my Faith Build. All i had was a Divine Halberd +5 and an Occult Lucerne +4. Neither was doing more than 50 Damage. Was stuck using WotG and Greater Lightning Spear. It was the hardest fight i have had in this game so far.
