Might as well use wallhacks man. SMH this ♥♥♥♥ is disgusting, i dont care how my point comes across. like i give a flying ♥♥♥♥.
Its cheating, end of, its not an opinon its a fact.
thanks for bumping up the thread though, since the mods seem to be long gone I heavily rely on users to periodically bring this up on page #0, and you're making a good job at that.
The tool harms some aspects of the game when it doesnt need to, people are not privy to SL data if they are playing agianst legit players.
invaders are not privy to see everyone in the game in a list and SLs if everyone is legit
if you get invaded you are not privy to see if the person who invaded you might be underleveled. or what SL they are in the first place. if the person that invaded you is legit.
ECT ECT ECT
It is cheating, end of.
Ec tetera?
That's not the end of. Please revise your arguing style, you're coming off as a 12yo stomping his feet in red faced anger because he didn't get his way, even if you do have something of a point.
Althogh I don't consider it 'cheating,' nor a big deal in general, I agree that SL shouldn't show, as it gives a bit too much information. It also takes away one of my preferred Dork Souls pastimes: baiting twinks. Around sales I loved to pick some of my NG+ SL100+ characters and just stand around Parish with a starting class set and drake sword and then oneshot the twinks with a hidden chaos zwei +5. Can't really do that if they know your SL. Chances are they'll just bugger off with the separation crystal.
But, regarding this.
Don't blame PVP Watchdog for this. Players have always been able to see how many players they're up against in Dark Souls. GFWL and the consoles' dashboards(or whatever) show the players you've recently played with. When you invade a full ganksquad, you'll get 3 new names in that list. The only difference is that Watchdog doesn't require you to press a few buttons.
and it doesnt matter if you consider it cheating or not, its not something of opinion, it is infact cheating. You are not privy to SL data of legit players when you just invade or get invaded.
This may not be a big deal to you, but you gotta draw the line somewhere, otherwise you make the case for more cheating, one small step at a time.
It always amazes me how people get such vibrant images made up in thier head about "red faced anger" over something written in text.
Look i get the point of the mod, its a great purpose, ive said this a few times, but it does 1 thing that goes too far, and it crosses the line, it needs a fix.
It should only detect cheaters as it does now and have an onscreen prompt to kick em, but not show any SL info on legit players.
Otherwise its just a cheating mod that kicks out other cheaters that use bigger cheats....
I mean after beta and that patch - does all guard functional works properly?
You can kick cheaters, yeah.
TL;DR, gives away information about other players you normally wouldn't be able to see. This leads to situations where people black crystal out when they see you're too high level for them, for instance.
The tool needs to change so that it will only prompt you if it detects a cheater and allow you to kick them, SL data it detects from legit players needs to be hidden and behind the scenes.
Still good program,but...
See, it's very simple. I've seen this pattern of behavior time and time again. More recently, for example, on the Payday 2 boards, regarding the mod HoxHud.
What's HoxHud? It does a lot of things, but most importantly, it provided a LOT of anti-cheat/anti-hack detection and kick tools to a game that was notoriously released with very little of either.
Sound familiar?
HoxHud would, for example, detect if someone was using skills or weapons that were well above their level/stat range, deploying things they shouldn't be able to given their level/build, blatant hacking, etc. It could then auto-kick people from your game the minute it sensed that junk.
Again, sound familiar? Of course, the difference here is that the makers of Payday 2 shook the modders' hands, asked if they could integrate a bunch of their anti-cheat stuff into the vanilla game, and it was good.
And then there was the raging. Oh yes, the raging on the forums. UNFAIR! UNFAIR! And it always came in 3 stages, tho not necessarily in the same order. "The anti-cheat is a cheat!", because trying to take the moral high ground. "People won't play with me because your mod let them see my build!", because somehow that's a game-breaker. And of course, "You're just as bad as the cheaters and hackers!", because using Insane Troll Logic, all you have to do is make some equivalency on the most minute level to throw the entire mod out the window.
But, you see, I left something out up there. Something that the HoxHud mod also does, that this mod really doesn't, something not done here because this board has a "no naming and shaming" policy. HoxHud would, when it detected blatant cheating, take the Steam ID of the offender, and the relevant data, and post it all up to the Payday 2 Stats web site, where we could keep track of all the baddies. And what shock of shocks! The vast, vast majority of those people raging against the mod on the forums were already caught cheating.
With their private profile, and their Steam level 0, most of the time.
So you see there's a pattern of behavior being exhibited here, and you've been profiled. Don't like it? I don't care.
Either you're a cheater who hates this mod because it ruins your funsies, and I don't care, or you've got legitimate gripes, in which case I still don't care. Why? Because you should be complainig to NamcoBandai to patch their crappy, broken port to deal with the problem themselves. The Watchdog mod only exists to solve a problem that NamcoBandai has made for us, and has been neglecting for years. If you don't like how it works? Then don't bother here, go bother Namco. If they fixed their junk, we wouldn't need a mod.
Oh, I also don't care because you've been a raging, raving so-and-so, and every legitimate point you've tried to make (if you're even serious about it) is drowned out in an ocean of BS.
The same thing goes for if you invade, invaders are not priveledged to SL data of the host right off the bat, if they are legit
The tool goes 1 step too far. it needs to not show the user the SL info of legit players. Only prompt when it detects cheaters and let you deal with them.
Otherwise its just a cheat that kicks other cheaters out cause they are using bigger cheats.
Oh yes, it does. Especially considering your previous comments.
Blocking you now, because I subscribed to this thread for news and troubleshooting re: this mod, not a constant stream of complaing from one person about something that's already been discussed about this mod more than once.
