Balder Side Sword vs. Zweihander

i'm still pretty new, but I'm sort of confused on where to go from here.

I pretty much have 3 main swords i enjoy

Zweihander +3
Ugigatana +1

and... just found a balder sword on my first Balder kill, undead and all that ♥♥♥♥. I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lucky, I know.

I'm only wondering where to go now with my build (pve)

I'm running a set of

elite knight armor
Grass shield (the one with stamina regen)
Longbow for picking stuff and drawing agro


I invested in:

16 strength = dual hand zwei
20 endurance = trying lighten the load of heavy armor
17 dex = tried ugi

I really like the zwei with the shield, it helps regen stamina even when im dual handing it. Its very unforgiving if you miss, and the stamina is hard to get by. Once they close the gap, I can't really parry at all or really duel, just roll back slowly and try from there.

i'm thinking of going dex balder, with some heavy armor. It scales really well, zwei on the other hand just one shots everything and has great range

Depends how much you like that zwei. Usually it's a better idea to pump a single stat first then the other. For that zwei, you'll have to get it to 24+ str first while the other 2 you can just pump dex. Your current strength allows you to wield heavier dex weapons.

Balder side sword is amazing in a dex build with leo ring. You can counter attack up to 890 damage.

Zweihander never that bad of a choice, just most experienced players know their way around it. If you want to go BSS, aim for 40 dex
If you want Zweihander, you probably need a 40/40 dex/str or 40/28, 28/40

As for endurance, that kind of knight build needs around 48 end+ (I usually go up to 52)

Baller Swag Sword is great with a dex build. Thrusting attacks, similar moveset to the longsword, fairly fast. It is one of the 3 best dexterity weapons in the game. Zweihander is good for a str dominant quality build. Uchigatana is another good dexterity weapon.

you shouldn't mix dex and str just because you are not sure :/ your build is gonna suck unless you level to SL150 or something to balance your stats... decide if you want to wield huge swords like the Zwei or small super fast swords like the B Swag Sword or Rickard's Rapier for example and go for just Str or Dex

Zweihander is MEH its scale poorly and its only effective against newies and theres better version for STR builds ( and its meh too)

unless you want to do a giant dad to pwned some newies but vets are going to dunk you really bad.

The Zweihander is fun, but I find the claymore is even more something I enjoy to playmore with (It also has the best alternate upgrade paths I have found of any weapon, using build planners. Enchanted/Occult Claymores are actually *reasonably* good weapons in comparison to the investment it takes to beat them in a quality build (Of course, buffs are still stronger.))
