How do I repair my Drake Sword?
Hi,

I'm at the bottom of Blightown, at the bonfire in the sewer entrance. I'm trying to defeat Quelag, but my Drake Sword is broken.

How do I repair this sword? It was a nightmare getting here. I know about the swordsmith back at the Undead Burg, but that's too far away.

The blacksmith sells a repair kit so you can repair stuff at the bonfire... would have been a good idea to buy it before going down there. No choice but to go back up... you can go back without fighting anything, from the bonfire exit the tunnel and head right, follow the torches to an elevator, that brings you up to a series of ladders that lead back to Firelink Shrine.

There are a few options, but from the sounds of it I'm assuming none of them will be easy for you at this moment in time.

Any blacksmith can repair your gear (the only gear that cannot be repaired ar Crystal items). Alas, none of them are close to you.

The blacksmiths and the male undead merchant in the burge amd a few other merchants also sell repair kits, which allow you to do your own repairs at bonfires.

Some merchants also sell repair powder, which is a consumable item that instantly repairs you gear when you use itm regardless of where you are.

Dusk of Oolacile also sells a repair spell, if you are a sorcerer (but you have to find her, save her, then summon her to buy her spells)

Assuming you do not have your own repair box and don't have any repair powder or the repair spell, the closest blacksmith to you is Rickert of Vinheim. Head up the wooden elevator thing at the side of blighttown, climb all the way to the top, grab the New Londo key in the chest, then fight past the 3 infested barbarians and into the valley of the drakes. Cross the wooden bridge that is before you and open the door on the other side. Welcome to the New Londo Ruins. After going through that door you will end up in a fairly open area. Go down the broken stairs on the right (falling into the water is instant death), and at the bottom of the stairs is a barred window to your left (and a fall to your death straight ahead and to your right). Inside that barred window is your blacksmith. Repair with him.

By the way, Rickert of Vinheim does NOT sell any repair kits. You'll have to get one of those from another merchant/blacksmith. The repair kit is infinite use though, so it's worth it.

While you're at it... abandon the drake sword and get another weapon. Drake sword has high damage but no scaling, what this means is that you'll get decent damage at low stats, but as you level up that damage will remain the same and you won't see any improvement.
Normal weapons upgraded with normal titanite scale with your stats (all differently, of course) so the higher your stats, the higher the damage bonus you'll get.

dont even bother bro. as soon as you step up to quelagg youll see what that weapon is about to do to every enemy. youll be hitting her for maybe 100 damage with your 2h r1's. upgrade some weapon you like the moveset to that you can wield. dont worry about scaling, the difference between a scaling damage and c scaling damage is miniscule until youre stacking buffs.

all blacksmiths selll a repairkit, and the smith boxes. except the guy in the londo ruins, hes pretty much worthless.

oh also. id suggest you re make your character completely, unless your current stat layout is what you want. you can get the jagged ghost blade in the new londo ruins by farming ghosts. it only takes 7 str to wield so every class can do so with no stat investments, and its as strong as the drake sword but MUCH faster and applies 300 bleed damage. you can then spend your stat points on useful things, rather than wasting them on str, dex, or end just to hold the worthless drake sword. also, JGB cuts off the drakes tail in 2 swings.

Save up and buy a repair kit at either the Undead Merchant or the Blacksmith. It lets you repair weapons and armor at any bonfire at the cost of souls.

Hmm, so I'm doing this all wrong. Well, thanks for the advice.... I'll start upgrading my weapons... honestly, I don't have enough time to re-start the game. Thanks for the suggestion though.

If you're looking for a better weapon I'd suggest the Halberd, upgrade it to do lighting damage and you'll destroy just about every boss.

How do I upgrade to lightning damage?

Any Halberd? I have the Gargoyle's Halberd. Is that a good weapon to level up?

Right now, my Drake sword is easily the most powerful weapon in my arsenal. I went and repaired it and was able to defeat Quelaag.

Gargoyle's is even better.

Lighning Enchantment you will be able to install with a help of a smith in Anor Londo. Tho I would not use it unless all the stats in STR/DEX/FTH you distributed were minimal req. for the weapon of your choice. If you did max out one specific atribute tho it would be a waste as Enchanted weapons do not scale with them at all (Divine & Magic are exeptions)

And yes, Drake Sword gonna keep the "best" dmg output if you didn't upgrade your gear.

If you want OP weapon, grab Zweihander from cementary if you are going in STR or Claymore (Cementary)/Bastard Sword (Undead Parish smith sells it) if you going both STR+DEX like me.
Or a Halberd if you are going Dex mostly.

Depends what you invested stats into.
I am for example trying Divine Spear tank character with all points in HP & Stamina. At lv16 I already beaten the Moonlight Butterfly, and am helping ppl with Gargoyle's.
