Sunlight medal confusion
I joined the sunlight covenant as I was going to do some coop with a friend.
Helped him out with 4 bosses, one where he died right before I got the kill, so I got 3 medals rewarded, + the one from Lautrec which puts me at 4.

After i've helped him to kill his boss, I summon him and we take on my boss as well.

However my friend, whom is in the way of white covenant now has 7 sunlight medals compared to me only having 4, and we're not really sure why that is.

We haven't been to Anor Londo yet so it's not the chest there, nor the Demon ruins bugs.

Maybe a little more clarification, basically saying , if you are a sunbro you are the one giving the medals for valor ,so you don't give yourself medals of valor,not the game just giving medals because you beat the boss. :praisesun:

To my understanding everyone gets a medal once a boss is defeated with a sunbro present, so this would only be when i'm summoned to help him.
I don't see where else he would be getting medals from, or why someone who is not a sunbro would be getting more medals than an actual sunbro for doing the same things, as they have no purpose for it.

Is it possible that your friend has co-op'ed with other Sunlight Warriors?

Nah, we only just started, we've been through Butterfly, Capra Demon and Gaping dragon, he summoned me for his fights and I summoned him after.

I helped him with Gargoyles as well, but he died right before I killed them so I didn't get a reward for that one, he might have.

IIRC there are a few NPCs around the game who give out sunlight medals in case you're offline. Could be he just ran around collecting them?

I think you can only get a sunlight medal from Lautrec after you get him out of his cell and he's at Firelink, 3 medals in a chest at Anor Londo, summoning Solaire for boss fights and farming the maggots and Demon ruins.

We haven't been to Anor londo or Demon ruins yet and i've helped him with all of his boss fights, so I fail to see why he would have 7 medals, unless he gets medals for helping me, but he is a white phantom.

I know it's neither of those things. No idea what it would be, but figured that maybe I was missing something obvious about how the medals work.

Well according to the wiki

1)Talk to Lautrec after you save him, and you will receive 1 medal.
2)Invite Solaire to defeat a boss with you and make sure he lives until the end. (you must be in human form to summon phantoms)
3)Summon a member of the Warrior of Sunlight covenant and beat the boss with that player. (you must be in human form to do this)
4)Be a member of the Warrior of Sunlight and beat a boss with the host in co-op
5)Farm Chaos Bugs in the Demon Ruins / Lost Izalith shortcut. (seems to be a rare drop)
6)Loot 3 Sunlight Medals from a chest guarded by a spear-wielding Silver Knight in the room opposite the first bonfire in the castle of Anor Londo.

I checked snuggly's reward pool and you can't get a medal this way.

It could be the game giving more than it should but I doubt that.

Yeah, none of that appears to explain how he'd have gotten 7 medals, atleast not from my understanding.

The only situation where medals are awarded is when a warrior of sunlight helps a host kill a boss, then everyone should get a medal.

Being the host yourself whilst being in the sunlight covenant, getting help from a white phantom should not award a medal I think.

And either way it seems very strange to me that a way of white member would receive medals in more situations than a sunbro.

Apperantly he gets medals when I summon him to help me, I don't see how that makes sense but not being a sunbro is the best way to get sunbro medals.

Read number 4 in Hiroshi's post again. :P

If a Sunbro is present, phantoms get a Sunlight medal. You are the host, so you don't get the medal, but the phantoms who helpled you get one because you're a Sunbro. :D
