and the cable definitly works i just tested both on another pc
ive even tested other controllers, even ds4 controller is working fine.
xbox one will not.
ive also tried every port on my computer already.
usb cord works.
drivers 100% up to date and quadruple confirmed...
nothing else flashing in device manager....
controller confirmed to work...
windows will not find drivers.
note all the drivers and such. ive literally been working on this for 8 hours now
USB\VID_045E&PID_02EA&REV_0301
hardware iD for controller. comes back xbox one controller. followed all relevant links and such, still dead end
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0mc4KzAkTM
already tried that 5 times.
its old, the files in that video are shown in my screen shot in triplicate
Is your OS 32-bit?
If you get it to work, please keep us posted about what you did.
if youre just going to google " connect xbox controller"- save us both the time

the pain is, ive got them working fineon other windows 7 pcs.
64 bit
thats whats so mind boggling right now.
and EVERYTHING is saying that windows is supposed to just automatically detect and do this on windows 7 now.
i see one post on toms hardware saying they removed it in an update, but it has multiple replies saying that theirs worked fine after same update/
ill buy an xbox 360 controller before a buy windows 10
ive followed every guide out there to every set of drivers and updates, and everryone says already installed.
ive even uninstalled/reinsallted them all, to no avail.
ive even reinsalled windows and all drivers.
still nada.
any more ideas or links are welcome!
sorry if im coming off abrasive im just furstrated and been up all night
They are used but work great. I'm on Win 10 now, but I never had a problem with XBox 360 controllers on Win 7.
yep ive tested the devices, and the ports, with other devices.
the usb ports are all workin normal, and even the auto driver thing worked for plugging in other new devices. even tested to make sure its a data style cable.
im sure theres probably something stupid im skipping..... but i swear ive done everything... like i said ro the point that i reinsallted the whole os and tried again...
i may end up going back to an 360 controller but theyre so sketchy. ive gone through 3 in the last year, official ones actually NIB, that were squeaky and obnoxious, had faulty buttons, unresponsive triggers that i had to squeeze super tight.. etc.
i was really hoping to up grade but for the cost i suppose i could go buy like 4 used 360 controllers and call it a day.....
ASSUMING that they still work now taht ive rescrambled everything jeez.
ill update after a nap.
i think you would need win 10 for the controller to work properly.
you can get a win 10 update for just $12.
what kind of controller is it? is it xbone controller (xbone slim version) or the "for PC" model?
they are different you know.
have u tried a game like witcher 3 with it?
I think the way i fixed mine was to install a VC installer package, but i can not remember what was that really.
also, i can not find on the MS website if the xbone controller can be used with usb cable. its all wireless or bluetooth (correct me if im wrong)
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc
https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-wireless-adapter-for-windows-setup
https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-and-troubleshoot-xbox-one-bluetooth-issues-windows-10
according to this, only way to connect xbone controller to pc using win 7 is having the wireless adapter. bluetooth is also not supported for win 7.
so yeh.
