The Rat Man Maze - rolling to get past trap
This is where the game ends for me. I know how I'm supposed to do it but the spike traps kill me even if I start rolling. Is there a way past this? A cheat or something?

I also had this problem. Even if I was rolling, it killed me every time. But after 20-30 try somehow it worked. :) Anyway, apart from this part, its a great game!

Don't touch the Run/Sprint button when you are about to clear this trap. It's understandable that sometimes we unconsciously want to make sure we run fast enough to leap far when jumping, but I noticed that sprint is probably causing the player to die practically always at this one wall-mounted moving spike-trap. I do not guarantee you will always get past this trap even if you don't use sprint, due to some of the game's issues\bugs BUT - my best advice:
- Don't use sprint (only when attempting to clear this specific trap in question)
- Time your jumps between piles of spikes coming out of the floor, so that you jump just before you touch them. Don't overdo it, the purpose of this is to make your momentum let Randall (your character) jump the farthest he can - especially with the second, and decisive jump because wall-mounted moving spikes come after the second pile of spikes on the floor.
And just to make sure - you can press and hold the Crouch button mid-air, no timing is needed. Still, I kind of time it if it's me. A habit I guess. Good luck, hope you can get back to playing this wonderful game and enjoy it! :boomer:

The way I got past this was to delay my first jump on the first spike, I timed it so that my character was jumping through the first lot of spikes and then I just carried on as normal jumped the second lot then rolled.

Took me about 20-30 times beofre I realised it was all about the timing on the first spike, its a bit of a crappy design.

Cheat? Are you serious? All you have to do is to time your roll! Hit "LT" right before you touch the ground.

But isn´t that a good thing in a game? When there are parts that are harder than you expect?^^

It´s even harder without a gamepad ;)

I just ran into this issue even though I'm damn near a decade late to this conversation. Don't sprint at all. Drop easy behind the first set of spikes, wait till you're right next to them and do a regular jump, no sprinting. Land behind the second set and just like the first set of spikes, wait till you're right next to them to do another regular jump, no sprinting. When you're mid air in your second jump, press your roll key/button and you should make it. It's just about timing, only hard part really is timing that roll button.
