Source SDK

Source SDK

Gameinfo.txt not found my ♥♥♥.
So I just now started having this problem after not using Hammer Editor for a few months. Now, I know what some of you are probably thinking. To preemptively answer some of y'all's questions: Yes, I have already started the games (I've tried opening Hammer under several Source games that I own). Yes, I deleted gameinfo.txt and verified game cache for a new one. And yes, I reinstalled Source SDK. It's there, the paths are set to where they should be. The solutions given to me by google search results have not worked.

I even moved Source SDK and all of Half-Life 2 and its episodes out of my portable hard drive and onto my C drive (and then did all those things over again). Regardless if I try opening hammer (or any Source SDK program for that matter) via Source SDK or opening the program from the batch or the executable, I get the same error messages. Either it's "-insertpathhere-/gameinfo.txt is missing" or "Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory '-insertpathhere'. Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting." when I try opening hammer in SDK.

Gameinfo.txt are in fact present. I checked more than a dozen times now. Nothing seems wrong with them. As you can probably tell, I'm pretty frustrated. I've spent all night trying to get this to work. The only noteworthy things that happened between the time Hammer Editor worked and was using it, and now, is the fact that I reinstalled my OS last month and I bought Half-Life Complete so that the games would finally be in my own library and not just the account that I'm linked to. Other than that, prior to my troubleshooting, nothing was different. I'm stumped.

On a side note, on the few occasions that Hammer Editor manages to open, I get the errors:
"Failed to load the default scheme file. The map views may be missing some visual elements."
and "Fatal Error: Model -insertpathformodelhere- not found and models/error.mdl couldn't be loaded" whenever I load a map.
I'm guessing that means that Hammer and Source SDK are still looking in the wrong place? Ugh.

In your bin folder look for a file called GameConfig.txt, that's where settings for setup are stored. Double check in that file that everything is correct

Alright, I looked in there, and the paths were incorrect. I fixed them, but I'm still getting the same errors.

EDIT: Shucks, I missed a few paths. That was my problem. Thanks, it seems to be working now. I'm still getting the errors for other Source SDK programs, but honestly, for now, I'm just glad Hammer is working.
