so two choices for you :
a. download source sdk base 2007,
b. download source sdk base 2013 singleplayer
source sdk base is free for all steam user so you don't need hl2, tf2 or any valve game to mod with the sourcesdk.
Ok... But it's says "please pick a game to edit or make a mod" And the only things its say that I only have is
SDK 2006
SDK 2007
SDK 2009
SDK MP
I just instal 2013 single and multi player but I don't see it in the main screen -_-
so if you own HL2, go to /common/hale-life 2/bin/
the tools of the sdk are here.
just execute de Set_sdk_env.bat
and after that you can launch hammer.exe
it will ask you for what game you want to work with, choose the version you need.
Instead you need to go to steam/steamapps/common/GAME_NAME_HERE/bin and launch hammer.exe from there
However this will not work for Garrys mods hammer.exe because Garry has not yet set it up correctly. So if you want to map for garrys mod use HL2, CSS or DoD.
Also keep in mind this is only for older games, newer games like L4D, Portal 2 and CSGO have working authoring tools in Steam.
Thanks, I looked at tutorials and they all said to go via steam. Well at least it works now! Might need CSS though.. I thought CSGO would give the same textures and things but I guess i'll buy it.
