How to convert inches to hammer units.
One Hammer unit is three quarters of an inch, or .75 inches. So if you want to recreate something from real life in hammer for example, you would take the amount of inches of a measurement, then divide it by .75, and the result is the amount of hammer units that translates to.

For example: 300 / .75 = 400

In this equation, 300 is the amount of inches you want to convert to hammer units, and 400, the result of the equation is the conversion in hammer units.

Just thought it would be nice to know because it doesn't say it on the Valve Developer page.

thanks. you could edit the SDK wiki by yourself btw

However things might appear pretty tall though because it seems the character is only about 4 feet tall.

Ahhh, I remember that. He's like an Ewok.

So how do we scale it to fit his height or would things look a bit weird?

I tried to convert a set of drawers I made in Sketchup to Proper last night but couldn't get around an exporting error with "too many somethings".
It appears there is no way to make it player height unless you change the height of the player. If you shrunk everything down so that it isn't so tall to account for the player's shortness, then everything would be miniscule width wise, and in the case of a map I am making that is replication my real house, the player wouldn't even be able to fit through the doors.

That just shows the dimensions. If you read the first post, I am giving a math equation on how to convert inches, usually a lot, into hammer units quickly.

Not sure if this is acccurate (like I said I'm shockingly bad with maths) but if anyone wanted to use feet, apparently 1 foot = 16 units.

Found it when I bumped into this http://www.worldofleveldesign.com/categories/sourcesdk-authoringtools/hammer-source-player-scale-world-dimensions.php which is basically the same as that Valve wiki page.
Yes, that is true. However on the Valve wiki, they say for architecture, 1 unit = .75 inches, or 16 units is a foot, but then they say that it is different for players. 12 units is a foot and 1 unit is one inch when regarding characters, which I don't understand why they would do that. That means the character is really short, and if you try to use one unit is one inch for your map, then everything looks really small.

One mandrill is officially 85.3 inches.
