XBox 360 controller on Steam version
Hi all! How do I make the game work with my joystick?
I tried setting joystick=1 in config.cfg and also adding joypad.cfg (with mappings for HL:S) and running "exec joypad.cfg" from console - neither worked.

Or you could get joytokey, I'm just being lazy.

Hi all.
I installed the pinnacle emulator and downloaded and started the profile but when I start the game form steam, I still can only use the keyboard.
Do I have to change some settings or something to make it work?
Thanks!

Is not supported. You couldn't even use the Inventory in the game with that controller.

It is also mentioned in the game's system requirements:
•Peripherals Supported: Windows-compatible mouse and keyboard

That wonderful link posted by kyokodeathgod should help because it promises so.
You are probably having trouble playing Dark Messiah of Might & Magic with your gamepad or joystick.
Pinnacle Game Profiler can solve all your controller problems. Guaranteed.

Just click the button below to download the Pinnacle Game Profiler software, which includes
a pre-made profile for Dark Messiah of Might & Magic controller support. Simple.
This profile is compatible with any standard PC Gamepad, Xbox 360 Controller, Playstation (PS4, PS3, PSX), or any similar devices
I don't have an Xbox360 controller myself so haven't tested it, and still wonder how you could use the Inventory but since they guarantee it works you should believe them. And if it does not, ask support from Pinnacle Game Profiler.
If you have any questions or need any help, please email us: support@pinnaclegameprofiler.com

Hey, guess what! The Xbox 360 version supports the Xbox 360 controller. The fact that this version doesn't is just pure laziness on the part of the developers. I don't support devs that don't support controllers.

Yeah I would have bought the steam version in the current sale but I prefer using a controller for this game so I might just get it for the Xbox 360 next time it goes on sale.

too anyone still looking to use a controller on this game steam now lets you set up a controller configuration in big picture mode. ive posted one very similar to pinnacles format but pinnacle can no longer be used due to lack of support.

I changed my mind. After years of waiting, Xbox apparently have no plans of ever selling this game on a discount on Xbox consoles during their weekly or holiday sales, so I finally decided to buy the game when it went on sale on steam for $2.49 this month even if I have to use a keyboard and mouse.

However as it turns out, I was able to trade for the game on steamtrades before I had to make the purchase and am trying it out.

At first I was worried about the reports about the game crashing when launching it on Windows 10, but so far so good. I am keeping my fingers crossed playing in 1080p.

i posted a thing before you can map most of the commands to a controller. theres a few that wont save and youll have to use keyboard from time to time but its for activating different powers

Thanks but using keyboard and mouse is okay to me as well. Even though this game is not a crpg that is what I use there most of the time. I do prefer the Xbox controller for first person arpgs like this game in general though.

The Xbox 360 version of this game from what I understand also removed the rpg elements of the game removing the option to customize your skill/ability tree and making it more linear so keyboard and mouse is still the best option for the PC version.
