But if you remember correctly,
it took about 10 years after release for hardware that wouldn't stutter while running the game, janky game engine.
As for linux, I think someone already tried running the game on linux, not sure how it went, but check this forum.
Now, let's talk about Dark Messiah. Awesome game, arguably one of the greatest in terms of combat. Did it sell well? No, not really. It wasn't as bad as Arx Fatalis (the first Arkane's game), but Ubi probably don't know about it's existence (or they just don't care much). The game is also made on the source engine, which is Valve's engine and they do charge for it, if the game is being sold for money. Now, why would Ubi care about all of this? It's too much work for such an unpopular game.
Actually, it's really good that we don't have a remaster or a remake of this game, since it would probably be a disaster. Something on par with Bioshock remaster (in case you don't know, it got plenty of crashes on modern systems, bugged AI and many more issues, that were not introduced in the original game). And since DM was made by different people, I doubt anyone else could recreate this game to it's full potential.
Right now there is a nice team of people who patch this game. Check their mod launcher on ModDB. In the future there will be more bug fixes and easier modding, so it's pretty awesome.
As for simular games, people usually suggest different (and often random) games here, but I actually suggest you Fallen Aces. Great game, a lot of potential, awesome so far.
Crusher of dreams, destroyer of fantasies. And yeah, there is a way to play this on linux but tricky tricks are needed, at least in my case. I know that some distros had it working pretty much oob. Im just too lazy ☺️
Anyway, since I mentioned that restoration project, maybe you can leave a comment on the pinned thread on these forums. Or contact David yourself, he might be interested in helping you run the game on linux.
The game wasn't even a big financial success back in the days. Nobody would touch such a game with a ten foot pole these days.
Not even Dishonored gets a sequel.
Get real.
Jeez, calm down you you you meanie you.
