How to change the game language to german?
The closest I found to change the language (besides in steam selecting it) is this cfg entry:

cc_lang ""

anyone an idea what to fill in? ger? german? or is it even the relevant entry?

It's simple, really. Since the game is using obsolete version of Source engine, the way you set language is by changing the language of Steam itself.
- Right click on Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Singleplayer in your Steam library. - Click Preferences. - Go to Languages tab, select Deutsch (German). - Let the Steam download files. - Now you click on Steam\Settings. - Go to Interface tab. - Switch language of Steam to Deutsch (German). - Restart Steam. - Launch a game.

cc_lang is only for setting the language of subtitles displayed on a screen... I think the command "cc_lang German" could have worked, if the the subtitles from other languages weren't tagged as "English" anyway.

I had a problem with russian - in steam settings was chosen russian but game lamgauge still was english. In cfg i wrote cc_lang "Russian" and now i have russian language in game. So try to write cc_lang "German"

Wouldn't steam try to download the german language files for every game I have installed if I do this? So I guess it would be best to do in offline mode. Thanks I will try that.

Not necessary, although possibly. Steam has a tendency to switch languages for all games possible, if you change its language... which is a bit stupid.
