This riddler stuff is too much
I feel as if I'm going to do all the other side missions before I even scratch the surface on the riddler. Who actually goes through all this? It's every game besides Origins, total overkill.

I like the idea but the way the game goes about it, I found that I'd done everything except Riddler stuff and I'd have no motivation to just hunt down random green guys and then hunt down trophies. I liked it in Origins, think that hit it just right.
I think saving it for last WOULD make it tedious, maybe you were looking about it from the wrong perspective. For me, what made it fun was having a reason to pursue a car, ram it off the road, climb out, walk calmly over to the green thug, and beat the living crap out of all of his friends while he is acutely aware I'm saving him for last, and scare the nightlights out of him.
Plus, the xp gains from side content (including Riddler's challenges) don't really help much if you beat the story FIRST.

I do that but still find by the end there's just too much. Not done with this one yet maybe the balance is better but in City? Forget it, totally gave up.

City had 400-440 of these (depending on whether you count Catwoman), so I'm not sure if that makes Knight's better... BUT I admit that like a third or so of his puzzles were on full display in City, vastly reducing the time/effort required for hunting down informants.

Edited to add: with all that being said, Knight is VASTLY better than City though, mainly because you can complete his sidequest without having to complete a single of his "riddle" collectibles, to my knowledge. In City it was inherently tied in, and only skippable on NG+.

You can't finish the side mission in Knight until you collect everything. The final boss fight is inaccessible until you do so.

City staggers the requirements, making you have a certain number collected before you can progress to the next step of the side quest. Knight lets people ignore everything until the very end, and then they're annoyed when they find out that there's so much left to do.

And then they find out they need to complete all the side quests in order to get the full ending. And then some of them encounter the issue where they've done all the side quests except for Riddler's before they complete the main mission, and then they can't get any ending at all unless they finish all the Riddler stuff.

In contrast, City's Riddler side quest is truly optional. You can finish the game fine without it; I think it just unlocks some concept art or character trophy or something. If you didn't want to do the sidequest, you just didn't do it.

Another difference is that City needs only 400 trophies to complete the side mission, so, assuming you have the Catwoman content (which you always do on PC), you can even skip a few and still finish. Knight really makes you collect everything.
It's great that it's there - its totally optional for those who want to get more game time and find it fun.

For me the main and other story driven side quests is enough though. I have other games to play too :tgrin:

I didn't know that only playing up to Catwoman's release denied gamers any sort of ending to the game, thank you for enlightening me.

I don't deny any of what you wrote, but I just inherently saw the staggering of Riddler's interactions as annoying and MORE time-consuming than what I've experienced in Knight so far, since grinding 60 collectibles per encounter was just really annoying by the end. And let's be honest here, nobody who has played the previous games should be annoyed at this game continuing its own trend of having Riddler collectibles, just as nobody should've been surprised when a game with a larger open world meant requiring a means to quickly navigate it.

What's the best guide to solving all those Riddler challenges?

Scan whatever trophies you find on your own during natural traversal, so that Riddler informants don't end up giving you those locations anyway.

When you're in the Batmobile, remember to chase down anything and anyone glowing green, but DO NOT incapacitate them, you need them to talk after all, and if you're searching for a Riddler challenge solution in an area, feel free to flatten all decorations, you never know if the answer is behind some of the scenery.

When you're out of the Batmobile, remember to take some time to do things the old-fashioned way as well, i.e. patrol the streets, glide the rooftops, just so you don't miss anything that might be up above, like weak walls in buildings or Riddler trophies on rooftops.

(Disclaimer: I'm not even close yet to finishing this game, but everything here aside from the Batmobile was my method in Arkham City and it meant not needing to use an external guide even once, and so far in this game I haven't had any major issues.)
Hey, question for any Riddler collectible veterans: any idea what's up with the green glowing bullseyes? I keep seeing them, but shooting at them doesn't seem to be doing anything. Is there something I'm too stupid to figure out, or is the game doing the same thing City did where I need to come back much later after the story hands me another tool?

You use the batmobile's scanner while in battle mode.

Those things are weird. I followed two of them so far. One led me to a ramp, but I found nothing of interest there and nothing obvious to jump to. The other one continued on the ceiling and then just stopped there. No clue what they are supposed to lead to.

The green emitter on Bleake Island at Panessa Studios leads to an overhead canal overpass; shoot the final target to collect that Riddler trophy.

The emitter on Miagani at Wayne Tower leads to a ramp; use the ramp to jump over the water and scan toward Grand Central Station.

The emitter on Founders Island leads to another jump ramp; again, use the ramp to traverse to the other building.

The ramps are a clue; might as well jump.
Apologies to Van Halen. :-)

Am I missing something? How can anyone like the collectibles in origins they are complete trash :D. At least in knight there is variety and really cool designs. When I look at the puzzles in origins they are not interesting, or nice looking, they are just over there. Like they don't even fit in the world.

I like that it was short, you only had to shake down like 5-6 guys and there was fast travel. It wasn't this whole job. That being said, Knight's is far more manageable and enjoyable than City or Asylum.
