Is there a way to fix the dynamic smoke?
Nvidia clearly doesn't care , when i enable it the smoke either shows up and the game crashes a few minutes after, or the smoke is simply insivible. Is there a community fix for that problem?

Best community fix for now - install old driver version, I think it was 457.51.

Yes, it should be the last driver without that bug. Later drivers have it, few versions later in driver 461.09 Nvidia officially admitted it:

i have a 20 series card so it doesn't seem to be the case.

So I'm not sure if this is just a special case for me, but I have found the culprit for the Smoke-crash bug. It's Shadowplay. Turn off instant replay, and no more crashing. FYI I have a 2080.

I spent a really long time scratching my head about why this was crashing, and I finally found out why. I used DDU to do a full uninstall reinstall of my drivers. When I reinstalled them: boom no more issues. Game runs great, smoke effects and all. I played the game and others without issue. Then at some point, I realized I forgot to log in to GFE to get shadowplay working, so I did, and forgot about it. Come again when I want to play AK again, I start up, crash again. So I remember that I just turned Shadowplay back on, and I go and turn it off. Game starts, benchmark runs fine. Leave game, turn instant replay back on, open game, try to run benchmark, game crashes. Seems like Shadowplay is causing the crashes, at least for me. I hope this helps.

Hmm, I wonder if it also could be responsible for the game freezing for half a second every time I finish a batmobile race challenge.

Time to reinstall and check for myself.
Ok, weird.
Reinstalled, turned off shadowplay, played around with the smoke, burnouts, drifts, donuts, no crash.
Turned on shadowplay, did the same thing no crash either, even when recording.

I checked the latest driver notes and it reads:

[Batman Arkham Knight][GeForce 10 Series]: The game may crash when turbulence smoke is used. [3202250]

So, as of right now, it only crashes on the series 10, maybe? I got a 3060 Ti.

I saw that note about 10 series cards, but the game still crashes with me if I have smoke and shadowplay on. Weird. I know for a fact that it's shadowplay with me since it crashes with it on every time

Its not fixed at all on the 20 series

Can confirm that the newest driver (471.68) does absolutely nothing for me. Game still crashes with instant replay on, and works perfectly fine with instant replay off.
While we're on the subject of performance, does the game freeze for any of you for a second when you cross the finish line in AR race challenges?

I have the same issue, also happens when finishing any other AR Challenge. It seems to be a server infrastructure problem to me, where the uploaded data needs a few seconds to travel over the Internet and/or to be saved in the cloud... :Doug:
