What's the purpose of mines?
I'm currently on Telos surface and so far mines seem a bit useless. I open doors with Security skill and enemies never do any kind of patrols, they just stand around. You can't even lure them into a trap-mine because they never follow you, I dunno it seems kinda dumb.

If you have a high enough demolitions skill, you can recover Deadly and Devasting grade mines. They help with quickly wearing down the health of Jedi bosses or other melee juggernauts.

You can go into solo mode and use stealth to lay mines, then aggro enemys towards the mines.

Mines were useful to lure enemies into in Kotor 1 but I have not found a worthwhile opportunity to do that in this game.

There are a few doors and containers that cannot be opened with Security or plasma torch/lightsaber and you need mines for these.

You get XP for disarming mines that you can sell or recycle at a med bench into grenades, implants and other stuff.

Thanks. So basically everything but not what they were designed for haha.

If you lay mines in one area then leave that area completely, when you return you can get xp for picking up your own mines. If you have the time you can use this trick to really boost your level. I've used this to finish on Level 40 in the past.

The biggest helpful thing mines are useful for are for (Dantooine Spoilers: early game Dark Side killing Master Vrook). Other than that, not all that useful to be used in an offensive manner. But taking Demolitions is still far from a waste. The XP you get for recovering every mine you see really adds up, as well as some really good upgrades that can only be made with high skill level in Demolitions. Bao-Dur and Mira are both excellent candidates to keep it capped if you don't want to do it yourself.

You can unsubscribe from the thread.

Anyway I use demolition cor the XP, convenience and money when selling the mines. On T3 usually.

You know... except using them for their intended purpose. Laying down a screen of mines, and luring enemies into them.

I know mines are a huge help against Hanharr as Mira. Or as early game Vrook (The battle of me setting a whole room full of mines prior to fighting him)

As the poster above me said, using Mira against Hanharr is very hard. Ive used mines everytime to help. In both fights between them. (Didn't really use her much)
