For the section between getting the transponder codes and the repair shop where that is not an option, careful tactics and use of shields, etc will get you through. I play at the hardest difficulty and you just have to go about it in a way that works. To be fair it depends on how you have levelled your characters (I make sure they all have some capability at melee combat and that I have weapons and gear ready for when they join you).
With TSLRCM or without it, there is nothing in this game that is outrageously difficult after you have done a playthrough or two and can anticipate and prepare for what is coming.
Even after doing every sidequest available to me I found Nar Shaddaa to be too difficult. There are barely any breaks in between combat sections. After clearing the yacht, exile was very low on HP. I assumed that viewing a cutscene on the Ebon Hawk would heal the exile. Right after that cutscene, you confront the Jedi and as I'm playing dark side I fought him. My character died instantly and I had no idea if it was a glitch. After going through the cut scenes again, I realized that my character was still on a sliver of health. It was pretty frustrating.
Go-to's yacht is not, afaik, significantly easier without TSLRCM. TSLRCM does bring in the sections after the main character is captured where you have to fight to and from the docks against multiple enemies using companions. It is doable if somewhat tedious on the return section.
The key is levelling up effectively. There are plenty of guides on doing that but good choices make the game easier, bad choices can make it almost impossible.
I wrote a guide to levelling and equipping companions some time ago. It is a starting point and aims to avoid doing anything that is likely to cause problems. Many of the points it covers apply to the main character also.

Please dont hate on me for not knowing any of this, I just started having time to get into PC gaming.
It's nice and easy just click this link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=485537937
and hit the green subscribe button right under the picture! Then open KOTOR 2 and it'll all be set up for you. :)
As you read this, go up the page to the line under the title of the game and across right to "workshop". Click on it then go down the right hand side of the next page to "Most popular" etc and click that. That allows you to access the full list of mods. Find one you like, select it and click subscribe and it will be installed. To remove a mod, go to the page after "workshop" and down to "my files". Click that and it will list all your currently subscribed workshop mods. To remove one just click unsubscribe.
A few things about TSLRCM. When you have installed it do not try and load a previous save. You should start a new playthrough.
The M4-78 mod adds an extra planet. Don't bother with it for your first playthrough with TSLRCM.
You can add other workshop mods. I would not bother at this point. Be aware that mods can conflict with each other and break your game. Best only use what you really want and only subscribe to more a few at a time. Several workshop mods are known to conflict with TSLRCM.
There are also non-workshop mods you can download and install. If you are using TSLRCM there is a particular way to install them - so ask.
Welcome to the world of Kotor 2 and mods. Enjoy!
I made the mistake of adding that mod for my first playthrough, seriously don't it's super dry
