trying to start new game/load previous saves. "doom 3 has stopped working"

This used to run fine back when I first bought it. Played all of doom 1 and 2, and got all their respective achievements, and started a fresh new doom 3 game, although i never got out of mars city.

here's the problem as of last month. When i went back to play it, there's a weird gray blank screen that briefly appears before the BETHESDA and ID logos play. Both logos now have unsynced sound delay, to where the sound is late.

When you get to the main menu, it works fine. menu sounds and music are all in sync again.

initially i just tried to load up my old save to keep playing where i left off. This issue happened. Fine, i thought. I'll just restart.

However , trying to make a new game, the same exact issue is happening. Doesn't seen to matter that its a new game or an old save. it never gets past the "loading" screen with the mars city pics and tips.
Normally you just let this thing do what it needs to do, and load but whenever i clt +alt +delete and bring up task manager, there's an extra window that pops up when a program crashes. It was odd because the levels always loaded reeeeeeally fast, so when after 5 minutes, I knew something was odd.
Since then, its been doing this every time I've attempted to play the game.

"Doom 3: BFG Edition has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

Every time.

Anyone else get this? I've tried deleting all local content and reinstalling the whole thing. Nothing so far has worked.

As I said before, about a year ago or so when I first bought this game, it ran just fine. I took a bit of a hiatus when i was distracted by other game releases but I'd like to get back into this. But every time i'ved tried this, it's the same thing! I start a new game, pick difficulty, i have to watch the little UAC video in the beginning, which plays and sounds fine.

Then, i'm back at the loading screen for mars city with the little fun fact at the bottom. Immediately when it gets to this screen, I can minimize the game and it'll show the "not responding" in my task manager, and the additional "stopped working" window has popped up. Normally a not responding doesn't mean anything except its loading a level. The extra crash prompt that pops up is the indication that this is not normal. I've given it 10 minutes to load today, but I know its just a waste of time because the second i minimize the game, the extra prompt has already shown up.

I am having the same problem, but mine wasnt working to begin with. if you find a solution to this problem, please tell me. i have been patiently waiting to play doom 3.
