Low Quality Audio
I remember playing the original Doom 3 and it had great audio, but something feels very off with the audio in this one. Everything sounds like it has a low bitrate and muffled.

This could be from your motherboard.
Do you have the sound coming from the motherboard or from a standalone sound card ?
Some motherboards have poor sound cards incorporated into them.
You might need to get a standalone card for better sound in general.
I have sound problem as in the ambient volume is way high but the general sound is low, the only way I can fix this is by getting a sound card, that is not part of the motherboard.

Yea, the audio is pretty Low quality sounding. Not sure if i can hang with it ether.
Ok, played a little more. Yes, it is the game and yes it is kind of a bummer but it isn't as bad as it seems at first. It's just one of those things that depends on your tolerance, Im gonna roll with it but it does have considerably lower quality sound, nothing clean at all.

The original Doom 3 had support of EAX with later patches and this technology was popular until Vista and later windows followed. Maybe that's the issue.

Best off with the original Doom 3 and using EAX with the Creative Alchemy software if you have a Creative Sound Card. They butchered the audio in this and to be honest I dont know why. I'll only be playing the BFG edition due to the VR mod.

google for HRTF 3d sound xaudio mod and play with headphones, it may change your expirience. also try xaudio surround sound patches (there is a bug where everything downmixed to stereo and dynamic range feels compressed).
