Evil Ring Charging Tips
Now ive seen before some people get stuck with the Charging the evil ring, especially with Hugo due to how the monsters you have to kill hit you for over 70 damage and you can only deal one damage to them.
Some of the advice ive seen people give does work but can be difficult to pull off.

How to charge the ring: You need to kill the red glowing monsters in the room before the tower.
DO NOT HAVE THE RING EQUIPPED if you do when you charge it , it will instantly kill you dealing 9999 damage.

If you're under level 30 you will only deal 1 damage to them make sure to be AT LEAST level 30 (i recommend 32) from 30 onwards you start to hit 4+

If you need to grind out levels teleport to shifting sands go through the north door and grind there till 30, go back to the angel statue and head east making your way back to the room with the red glowing monsters, till you get to the room with the small bugs and the bomb throwing goblins with the elevators taking you to the stair case with the 3 bomb throwing goblins, grind in that room, by this point the little worms will hit you for drastically less making it easier to kill them, they drop Healing herbs frequently. Over all you're looking at maybe 10 to 20mins grinding to level up to 32

Make sure to have the chimes equipped.

Enter the room from the south

The monsters when in range will lunch slash twice then pause, lunge slash twice then pause and so on.

Use the first little open area to run them in a circle when they do the 2nd lunge slash fire a couple shots then immediatly run, keep going this and you eventually get a rhythm going.
Hugo tip: Once you have the rhythm set start planting bombs when you know the 2nd lunge slash will happen this will greatly increase your DPS

If you are under level 30 dealing 1 damage this is going to take a long time and you can risk being hit twice, above 30 you can risk being hit between 3 and 4 times.

After you kill one and you need healing equip the cloak and stand still (7 seconds to activate) till you are healed then go lure the next one down.

Keep going till you kill them all and you get the notification telling you the ring is now charged

again DO NOT HAVE THE RING EQUIPPED and DO NO EQUIP THE RING

Go back to the tower, equip the blue pendant and then eqiup the ring and interact with the door

Ahhh yes, the only part I hate the most in the entire Hugo playthough. But it isn't about the ring though, and neither the Zelkadons. It is about having to grind it up, wasting time doing this, causing a massive progress choke, plus the unskippable-but-speed-up-able dialog in this game. Always extremely annoying whenever I want to rush through a play legally, no glitches and exploits (because I am not speedrunner, and I don't want to waste time either).:steamfacepalm:

Yeah the lack of text skipping is annoying some of them are really really drawn out, but speedrunning this has certainly caught my interest might have to check them out

Easier way as Hugo. You can bait them one at a time into the sand pit to the right of the eastern stairs. Walk slowly down the stairs until one of your Eyes peeks around the corner, then just spam it until it dies. Rinse and repeat twice.

This is for Hugo playthrough. What i did is lure them into the staircase from around bottom right corner area to there, wait until they do their hop attack to the left side and immediately jump to the right side, and attack them from there.

And this... if your HP drop (if necessary) or you're about to die

I'm probably underleveled since my basic attack only deal 1 damage, but Hugo's Trap Mine skill do a decent damage (I don't remember how much). This is not the best method but atleast it work for me on nightmare difficulty, I don't know about the other 2 character though.

Yep, same thing I was talking about just at the other sand pit. Key is that your Eyes poke out to both sides, so at the very edge of the banister one of them will shoot around the corner. I've never really seen Hugo do more than 1 damage to these things on Nightmare, so yeah, don't be shy about cheesing the hell out of it :P

Yunica doesn't have any trouble with them, phoenixes do all the work and hit way harder. Third character skips that sequence entirely because he's already demonic and just casually walks through the door.

the whole point of this was because after trying the stair case one 2 people have suggested it was clunky and awkward to get them there and ive seen other people say they've had similar issues. Id also imagine grinding up a couple levels takes around the same amount of time and luring them and hitting them for 1hp. and much more benificial overall to get your level up

Precisely, it has to be perfect spot else there is a chance he could get on the platform and keep chasing you. In fact, failing to do so would do more harm than good, and you shouldn't toy with it in area above the stair either. The safest way is actually keep kiting 1v1 him, around, in small circle, because his spins are deadly in straight, not turning, plus you can use the bombs easier. If you got 1 or 2 hits, you can always cut the tail with wind shield and heal because of sand gaps, and the spinlad keep spinning. :steammocking:

I found it wasn't worth the risk to engage them normally. Too easy to get yourself hitstunned to death against a wall for as long as you had to kite them around.

Yeah it can be annoying when they do that, but if you want the extra safety dont use bombs and have your shield you get hit just activate it, it will break on that hit but it lets you get away. other than that the only hard part is the timing between the pause and the lunge slash
