Any advice for a Elf Ranger who's starting out?
I'm actually quite new to DDO, I don't know much AT ALL, I thought playing a Ranger sounded cool lol. I need some simplified beginner tips (I don't understand the Wiki at all) on what to upgrade as a Deepwood Sniper Ranger, so that I'll know what to do instead of messing up stats and stuff like that. I'm still in the tutorial, right after the mission where you have to protect the Heyton dude, and I'd really like you guys to help me out on what to do and what to expect as a Ranger after the tutorial. Thanks!

Haven't played a Ranger in along time, and back then the Deepwood Sniper choice wasn't there. But i'd still recommend to grab high Dex and Con. And then Pointblank shot along with Moving Shot ( not sure if the latter is the correct name). Correct me if im wrong though.

Sure, first off, rangers in ddo need 4 stats,

Con - HP (very important in ddo)
Dex - To Hit (with bows)
Str - To hit with melee and Dmg with both melee and bows
Wis - Spell casting starting at level 4 ranger

Int will net you some extra skill points but genereally rangers get quite a few and don't ussually need int to high thus int is considered a dump stat (as in put no points into it at character creation or level up)

Cha is all but useless for a ranger (modifies charm animal feat though decent the bonus from putting points into cha is quite useless) so cha is a dump stat as well

Con is important for all characters even more so for ranged rangers as you will take quite a bit of dmg.

Dex is also important for ranged rangers as it decideds if you hit or miss with each bow attack Consider putting most of your points into this stat.

Str is important if you want to duel wield weapons as a ranger or if you want to deal dmg with a bow in the first place

Wis is not really all that important for rangers. Generally speaking ranger spells are quite meh (don't get me wrong they are quite useful as self buffs) so starting with base wis and adding tomes (items which increase stats) and magical items (+wis item) will generally put you into your spell casting requirement range

TLDR

Human

Str - Medium - High
Dex - High
Con - Medium - High
Int - 8
Wis - 8
Cha - 8

Just change accordingly to race.

All that being said Deepwood sniper is a horrible prestige for a Pure Ranger (it only gets to really shine in specific multiclass builds) Thus I would recommend Arcane Archer instead.
Thanks dude, I'll keep those in mind! :D

I think if you are a human you must be a pure ranger if you want to focus on ranged combat. Your choices are either Ranger AA enhancements, or Elven AA enhancements.

Lately there have been really powerful builds that have no ranger, just monk, fighter, and arti but they are played just like a pure ranger AA would be with the Elven AA line of enhancements. I'm not positive on all of the specifics of the build but I would suggest researching a build like that and see if one is on the official DDO forums. The best AA I have ever seen was:

12 monk
6 fighter
2 arti

If I were to play mine again, I would TR her into that build. Right now she is just a 20 Ranger.
