New to Monkey island, in which order to play them?

If you watch the recap option in the Main Menu of Return to Monkey Island, you'd get a summary of all the previous games so you can jump right in. But for the full experience, play Secret of Monkey Island 1, Secret of Monkey Island 2 LeChuck's Revenge, Curse of Monkey Island, Escape from Monkey Island, and Tales of Monkey Island first. These are all here on Steam

This whole game is made purely for nostalgia. First act is basically one big reference to older games. There is little reason to play this if you didn't played at least first and second game.

Thanks for heads up but it's not available in my country, anyway I'm broke for next couple of days anyway, but will get all of these eventually, seems like great series.

Secret, Monkey Island II, Curse, Escape (if you want), Tales, Return

I don't think you should play this before the older titles, there are a few scenes in this game that literally spoil solutions to old puzzles from the first two games. Play the first three at least before starting this I say but you can absolutely skip Escape (haven't found a single reference to that game so far) and Tales (doesn't really matter). People generally don't like the 3D games so don't torture yourself if you fall into that category.

In the sale theyre really cheap right now. Just buy the newest version of old games and enjoy. But believe me, the amount of time youll need is beyond everything you might be familiar with. We needed weeks and month as childs :) But the riddles are mababre

I would still be a fun and worthwhile experience, but you would miss out on a LOT of callback references.
