Subtitles are hard to read
Subtitles are hard to read because they don't stick around long enough to read them to the end when there are long sentences.
They are even harder to read when there is animation because they move with characters.
Kinda annoying after a while having to use the dialog option to read them back.
Might be nice to have an option to slow them down and place them at the bottom of the screen rather than above the characters.
Knowing that I play in French with my children who don't speak English doesn't help.

Choose the smallest possible size for subs (and yes, I know, even with 'Petit' they're not that small.)
Disable fullscreen, play in a window, this is decrease the size of the subtitles.
I'm only suggesting this because I also thought they were too fast (although there's also a setting to make them go faster, lol), and when I reduced their size, I found they were easier to read, and thus faster.
Of course, the problem with French subs is they're longer than the English ones. So I'd normally recommend to play in English if you didn't have your children with you. Good luck with that :-( I know I'm not going to play with my kid until he's old enough to read very fast by himself (it shouldn't be too long by now.)

While I'm at it, in the prologue, there's a sentence in Pig Latin *and* reversed. It's funny. It's hard to decypher (had to screenshot it and figure it out by myself, as I'm not versed into Pig Latin). The funny thing is, in French, they somehow used a mix between Javanais (adding extra syllables between the proper ones), and that infamous mème where you can 'figure out any word if the first and last letters are in place'. It pretty much says the same thing as in the English version, but the sentence ends up being nearly twice as long! Lol.

These French... They like taking up multiple paragraphs just to say 'Sorry, no solution for now.'
Oups ! Je me suis fait caught.

You need to get reading skills, for me the subtitules are very slow.

Thanks for your fair and constructive answer.
Probably you don't have kids to say something that stupid.

The comma key on the keyboard opens up the dialog history, which pauses the game and shows you the subtitles. You can scroll through the history with the arrow keys and sit there as long as you want to revisit a particular line.

IIRC it was introduced in the prologue so you could go back and re-read any anchor facts you may have missed by falling asleep during the long monologue. Hope this helps.

Isn't subtitle length a thing in the options, or does that do something else because I never checked what it does

Yes I know, but it's quite annoying to have to go back again and again.
Would have been nice to have an option to wait for a mouse click or slowing down the text rate.

People do know that there are settings in the options menu to slow down and speed up the subtitles, right? There's also options to change the size of the subtitles and even change the backing of them too. Something that may help people who are experiencing difficulties.

I knew that, but is to easy to find those options i prefer to say nothing on my post... xD Thats my constructive way to help humanity wake up a little. Mostly in this game, you need observation skills, if you do not see these options on the option menu... the puzzles of the game, maybe are impossible for this kind of people. Or well, they need guides to pass the game...

I've seen this option of course, but this option has no impact on text speed if you keep voices, and I want to keep voices.
Text disapear as soon as the voices ends.

Reread the thread. You missed the point entirely. Weird for such a smart helper
