Help! 2560x1080 (21:9) Displays the same as 1920x1080 (16:9) on Ultrawide Monitor
As far as gameplay goes, it runs just fine, however the game runs as if it's in 16:9, with large black bars on the left and right of the screen. When I try changing the resolution from 21:9 to 16:9 there is no visible change. Strangely, some other resolutions, such as 3840x2160 DO remove the black bars, but seriously stretch the image. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried changing the resolution in the Windows settings, as well as the NVIDIA Control Panel, with no luck.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! (I've been scouring the internet for hours now, with no luck) (^ᴗ^'')

I have an LG Ultrawide monitor that runs in a native resolution of 2560x1080. My PC has an Intel i7 CPU, and an NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super.

I think I have the same monitor as you (FreeSync?), but I haven't played Dishonored on it since upgrading from my old monitor. I actually came to this discussion page because I'm reinstalling the game right now, so I'll let you know if the same thing happens to me/if I can find anything out.

Hey man, just wondering have you had the same issue?

Hey man, I'm sorry I never responded on time. I ended up having to quarantine away from my gaming setup which sucked. I booted up the game tonight for the first time on this monitor/at 21:9 and selected 2560x1080 from the list and loaded up a save. It worked perfectly and had no black bars.

Of course in the game menu there are still black bars, and probably during cutscenes too, but I never got to a cutscene during my brief test. But during normal gameplay it filled the entire screen.

The only other change I made in the settings was to turn vsync off. I then usually set a framerate limit in Nvidia control panel so I don't unnecessarily run at super high frames depending on the game.

On the monitor itself I have FreeSync on, Response Time = Fast, and 1ms Motion Blur Reduction is OFF. Hope this helps and I promise I will respond faster now if you have questions. One other thing I would recommend trying is cycling through windowed/windowed-fullscreen/fullscreen by pressing Alt + Enter to see if that has any effect, maybe restarting the game afterwards.

My settings in the game menu had "Fullscreen" by default and I just left it there, so I didn't need to mess with that personally, but I use Alt + Enter a lot in many games when something weird is happening with the window/resolution/control inputs. Worth a try.

I am running this game under Linux/Ubuntu so my tip may not work at all.

Open game and try first running game windowed mode and 1920 x 800 resolution
(if available)
Then toggle windowed to fullscreen by pressing F11 and/or altEnter combo.

If it works, try next with native resolution 2560 x 1080.

I have 16:9 display and game scales correctly no matter aspect ratio. 4:3 with black bars on both sides and "ultrawide" black bars top&bottom. Nothing is stretched.

I don't know much about widescreen monitors, but I think this game is a bit too old, they probably didn't think we'd be running the game like this. Hell, in the prologue of the game, if your FOV is any higher than the default, you can see the guards appear from nowhere when you're holding the Empress as she dies.
