Elixir Pump Not Activating

I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong on the side mission for Granny Rags.

I thought maybe the first time was a glitch and I restarted the side mission from a previous save but still having the same problem.

I obtained the Viscera Rat from the doctor's secret room and I made it to the Elixir pump. I placed an empty vial then hit the valve. Every time I use the valve nothing happens and the prompt to infect it never appears.

I have no idea why this isn't working.

Did you pick up and interact with the "still instructions" found nearby? It might need you to read those before it'll allow the still to be used?

Whether I have a vial mounted or not, the distillery simply spins the valve then small steam comes out on the top but nothing else.

Ok I replayed the mission.

- Picked up the viscera
- Activated blue valve of "Elixir Still" in Slackjaw's bureau under the stairs
- "Infect Bootleg Elixir" without creating a bootleg first, you can but you don't need to

and Gentlemen Callers got updated "Contaminate the Bottle Street Gang's Bootleg Elixir with plague" check

(found a YT video where someone said the game doesn't give him the option to infect. puh I would say replaying the mission then.)

I replayed the entire story again, and I still had the same problem

Same issue. ♥♥♥♥♥ up my 100% run but oh well. I don't think there is a fix other than replaying the mission over and over until it works.

i call BS as i just bought the game on steam, and ive got this same bug, so it has nothing to do with pirates or bootlegging and has everything to do with a bug in the games code.

2 years later and still havnt gotten to be able to spike the booze, and still havnt found a fix.

no i have, the mission where you fight the guys at her house... or knock them out. and the one where you get the rat guts, just unable to use the rat guts, pop up never pops up. its a long standing and apperantly rare bug.

ive found very sparse mention of this bug online, for some people restarting the mission fixed it, for other going out than back into sneak mode fixed it, and others still only fixed it after reinstalling or verifying game files, unfortunantly none of those worked for me.
