You need to think and play as Corvo. Daud is already an established character which is why he speaks and Corvo doesn't. After they established Corvo's personality, he gained a voice in Dishonored 2.
I still like Daud's powers more :P
Bonus points for villain redemption arc that I can actually buy. (you know that massive textwall about why Corvo's a violent ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? I've got a matching one for why Daud's low-chaos as heck)
I definitely prefer the method of giving people a fully-formed character to inhabit (what would HE do?), rather than asking players to directly project onto the lead (what would I do?). Corvo was too much of an un-character. You don't really get enough information to get in his head, but he has to much history to work as a blank slate, which is what I thin they were attempting.
I really enjoy playing as Corvo now, but that's after a lot of discussion and poring over the notes and building a character out of scraps. Some people say that was ~intentional~ and maybe it was but there's gotta be something off about a story that's only really good the sixth time through. Daud was great from the first playthrough because he arrived on the scene a fully-formed character.
oh and... yeah, he's more fun to play, too, for me. just on the strength of that blink alone. Unless you're playing like a really loud murder run, that's where Corvo's kit really shines.
For all the reasons listed above, Daud has a personality, has regrets and thought he had desires but they turned out to be just complications.
Daud and Emily are fun too
So far I combined a few Bone Charms helping me out to infiltrate better, still find difficulties taking down enemies without actually killing them cause Corvo has some limits to do so. If there could be a page or diagram or anything which shows everything what Corvo and Daud has, I would be able to point out some important gadget and ability times when Daud is more usefuly than Corvo.
I'm still mad dissapointed that we won't get to play as Billie while she still had some of Daud and Delilah's powers. That could have been a really interesting kit.
