Personally each race holds a different aspect to me.
TEC = Best Eco, Best Defensive and very supportive within Battles.
Advent = Super race, fantastic for super Light Frigates and ships that can just stun an entire fleet allowing for the cap ships and Titans to level up.
Vasari = Weak at the start of the game but very, very powerful late game and almost indestructible without someone to help. Vasari SB's are very annoying too as they can move.
Overall each race has their own characteristics, it depends how you want to play the game. Personally I'm an eco guy myself so I like to go TEC 90% of the time.
However, for experienced players, the Vasari are considered the most powerful with their crazy late game abilities and research, though they take some skill to use correctly as in raw stats their frigates are a bit inefficient.
But my favorite race is the Advent, as its really fun putting their fleets together as almost every ship contributes something meaningful to an Advent battlegroup that makes the entire force stronger than the sum of its parts. All will join the Unity in time.
TEC has not only the best eco but also some very powerful things that can decide the situation. These things are Missile Barrage and "The Red Button".
Truce Amongs Rogues allows an eco player to expand very quickly with Pervasive Economy being TEC's speciality. BUT: TEC fleets are really losing ground late game. If vs. Advent you can use Dunovs to deplete anitmatter on which the Unity relies heavily (practice shows that helps but it doesnt win you the battle); versus top-tier Vasari fleets you actually have little chance. Novas dont change a lot. Still, if you take similar-skilled eco players one of who is TEC and the second is anything else, you will witness the true economic power of humanity.
Advent. Many people like Advent but they are divided into those who love the Loyalists and those who prefer the Rebels (i am on the Loyalists' side personally). Their capital ships and titans are awesome, they have culture at level 2, which may seem a bit unimportant but it proves to be pretty useful on 5s, also Rebels have Wail, making it very hard to attack late game, especially if advent rebel is the race of the opponent's eco player.
Vasari is great, and it may take me ages to write about them. I do NOT recommend to learn playing on this race!
The advent have the strongest shields, but weaker armor and is more ability and culture based. For example as stated above, mind contol and low levle culture acess. Something to be noted is that the trade port and refinery are the same building but can only perform one of the tasks at once. Also they have acess to an upgrade for thier starbases that makes them damn near invincable in terms of damage output.
The vasari are the most advanced and gerally deal the most damage. Thier starbases can move and the reble starbases can jump. They also have the highest damage output and the loyalists have the ability to continue the game and reinforce themselves without having any planets, making the culture a moot point.
Thats all I know about the races.
