Wait... I thought the point of the starbases was so that the enemy smashes their fleet on it. I tried a few games with starbases and the only thing they caught were scouts, rather defeating the point of them.
So let me get this straight... if I don't use this trick, my starbases will never engage anything more than a scout.
If I do use this trick, then the game will be no fun.
So either my starbases don't engage or I have no fun...
The AI will nearly ALWAYS jump into your planet at the same angle. Almost 100% of the time.
So if you pay attention to where the ships/fleet jumps into your grav well, place a starbase right near that point. Then voila, they will be bombarded by your starbase immediately after the land in your grav well.
