probably because china is too big or something, and i think it's because india is much closer to Europe than China

If they added China instead of India, someone would have asked Why did paradox add china rather than India.
And why did they add India? Because muslims conquered parts of India. Muslims did not conquer parts of China. Well, depending on how you define "China"'s borders yadayadayada

it would look weird to add china but not india
SKull Jun 11, 2018 @ 11:36am
It's closer I guess. Neither belongs in a grand strat game focusing on the Crusades though.

China is too big & would be a lot harder to add, plus india is more interesting since they're right there next to the already existing muslim factions

I think they also said something about the Indian setup being closer to the Feudal system in terms of governance and society.
Combined with the huge upset in the balance of power China would bring, they only added in indirectly with the interactions in Jade Dragon.

China is twice the size of India, and Rajas of India tanked performance for many users. There is a mod called H.I.P.(Historical Immersion Project) which removed most of India from the map, and it runs way smoother. Also, as ohters have pointed out, China was vastly stronger then anything in Europe during the time period, and unless they were completely cut off from the rest of the map, they would just dominate. Personally, I think ROI was a bad use of time and money. India has little impact on anything outside of India. Would've been better, IMHO, to have spent that enchancing exisiting features, religions, cultures, etcetera.

eu4 has the whole world ck2 just stopped short by adding the areas closest to thailand and china wouldnt want to copy their own work eh?
Black_Rat Jun 11, 2018 @ 3:49pm
you do realize the major differences between the computing requirements of CK2 vs EU4 right? ck2 doesnt just run nations, it runs ever single character in the game at once.. adding it india killed performance for much of the player base, adding in china would eliminate even more.

Take a look at a globe and you have your answer.

I remember that a designer at Paradox stated that it would be impossible to represent China's government type using the character-based system that CK2 uses, which was intended to simulate a feudal system that already has some hiccups with republics, theocracies and Iqtas.

India was quite interesting, several big pushes were made by islamic adventurers to carve out realms. Those resulted in massive wars. Also big changes in the religious structure.

Aside from that, you get a bit more than just messages from china with the dlc. You just have to play on the asian side of the map for it.

Paradox was rather upfront that they would have liked to add China to the map. But unlike you, they were smart enough to realize how badly it would hurt performance for many and they were not willing to add it without finding a way to avoid that problem, which they clearly did not.
