They're only scary there if you're not the Samrat Chakravartin of a unified India. It's a massive freaken empire. Like, totally op.
After I did that, I was looking at the amount of levies I could raise and realized I could steamroll anyone and everyone.
I am just glad that I have never seen the AI do it.
Save up loads of merc money when you expect them to come, break them into smaller groups, concentrate YOUR forces to get local advantages, whittle down their hordes. (Of course you dont want to be dying to attrition from too many men in one province so have them walk nearby each other similar to napoleons "fying colums" idea. Pile up your opinion vassal levy bonuses, laws, ect. Martial gives you more troops (Im not sure if it effects vassal troop counts) maybe thats not worth considering. and of course retinues.
Longbows , in mass, can kill off a horde before they even even touch you : )
Cymru Am Byth!
its actually really scary
Either they take over all the things or peter out before they cross the Ural Mountains. Haven't witnessed a middle ground.
So I'm not the onlyone who has wars end randomly after one lost skirmish when I have my full force arriving in the rear?
I think its becuase the hordes are so large the battle scores tip a lot from one battle.

That bit of mountain range separating the Mongols and Araslan is where I'm talking about, so yeah a fair bit further east.
