Any "essential" dlc?
Some games, especially strategy games, have DLC that can drastically alter the way the game is played and many consider the game to be at its greatest with these. Does CK2 have any DLC such as this?

*Note*: I am not here to start an argument about DLCs. I just want to know if there's any DLC I should snatch up while they're all on sale for a better experience. So please leave things such as cosmetics/soundtracks out.

All of the DLC's with "Expansion" on Steam are the ones you want. Pretty much all of them. Some people don't care for Conclave or Monks & Mystics but I honestly couldn't imagine playing without any of them

No DLC is required to have a good time in CK2. But if you want to buy DLC, I would say go with Old Gods and Way of Life. You can read up on other DLCs and choose the ones you like.
Any idea how long this sale will go on for? I want to play the game some before I buy anyhting.

The sale ends on April 9

I read it... can't remember... end of this weekend I think.
But sales for DLC's is not an uncommon thing, so don't worry too much if you miss it.

You could always try the search function, I'm sure you'll find the answer for this.

50% sales happen all the time. Used to be 75%.

Sales lasts until Monday morning, though the free CK2 base game only lasts until Saturday morning (after which it'll be at the usual -75% until the CK weekend sale ends).

Well, if you like the game enough, you probably get all DLC (ok, maybe not Sunset invasion), but for starting, the following are the ones to get:

- Charlemagne, Old Gods, Way of Life and Conclave.

then, you can get the rest of them at your own volition in future sales

I already picked up the base game itself.

if it lasts until Monday morning I'll play it over the weekend, possibly some tonight and tomorrow. I get really tired from work and likely won;t be able to think :\

I wouldn't put Charlemagne as essential. The game features it adds seem very minimal, and its biggest draw, I believe, is the earlier start date, which just so happens to be the biggest thing that keeps me away from that DLC, the huge mess of a political map among other issues

Old gods is as far back as I'd ever want to play and even that one has issues sometimes.... but it has vikings which makes the Old gods DLC 100% must have

Do not buy more then one expansion at a time; you will be overloaded by the sheer amount of game systems you need to learn to play the game effectively if you buy them all at once.

Crusader Kings II: Customization Pack
Crusader Kings II: Sons of Abraham
Crusader Kings II: Monks and Mystics
Crusader Kings II: Conclave
Crusader Kings II: The Reaper's Due
Crusader Kings II: The Old Gods
Crusader Kings II: Ruler Designer
Crusader Kings II: Sword of Islam
Crusader Kings II: Legacy of Rome
Crusader Kings II: Way of Life

How are these to start for $48? Should I add the unit packs?
